I'm sure the authors believe they are saying something important, but there is absolutely nothing concrete referenced by this "manifesto". No prior art, no examples, nothing actually specific to "computing". I'

I had a friend who was taking this game too seriously, so I drew up a "Miriam's Plan Is Ruined!" card and snuck it into the deck. Her plan was indeed ruined.

It takes very little work to discover how shitty a person Adams was before he died. Hell, ask your favorite chatbot.

While I'm sure that the vast majority of this energy is going straight to AI server farms, I'm also hopeful that this will renew efforts to switch to sustainable energy sources.

That's not a high-dpi monitor, the fringing is less noticeable at 140+ dpi.

The 49" panels I see are 5120x1440, or 109 ppi - not particularly dense.

It's a tradeoff - if you want a fast clear gaming monitor with pure blacks, you get an OLED. If you want the clearest text and are OK with middling response time, you get an IPS.

This guy is complaining about fringing...on 9- and 10-pixel high fonts. That works out to 1.6mm or 1.8mm high characters on a 140 dpi screen, or about 1/16 of an inch. He's also got Cleartype on and set to RGB stripe even though t

Constipation and nausea. You won't want to eat much, and if you do try to eat a full meal (if for example you went out to eat) you'll feel like crap for a few days. But yes, otherwise it works as advertised.

Your "bunch of projectiles" is what, 20? You should be able to do 20,000 on even the lowliest integrated GPU these days. As a senior game/graphics programmer looking at the screen caps, I see a game that should never be using

The bulk of the issues mentioned in the article seem to fall into the "Why doesn't the BBC give equal time to both objective reality and my bullshit right-wing talking points?" category. While I agree that the BBC did some sh

Where the ** is the grammar specification? Prose is nice, but with a BNF I could plug this into my parsing expression grammar library right quick and give it a rundown.

I did something similar to this with C++ templates - it's Parsing Expression Grammar based, so not full regex, but enough for a lot of tasks: using sign = Atoms<'+', '-'>; using digit = Range<

Of course, the example in the article is all monospaced console stuff. I've written a lot of text rendering over the years, everything from tiny bitmap for microcontrollers to analytically-antialiased true type based on code from som

The "right way" to do this on the GPU if you're using a monospaced console font is to have a glyph atlas, a persistently mapped text buffer, a persistently mapped attribute buffer, and then draw a single triangle that covers
