They need to resort to the mechanism agreed upfront to prove identity. Usernames, emails, numbers + passwords, keys etc. At this point I see this practice mostly as deterrance with a little cya mixed in, possibly with a pinch of data fishin

Unless I'm misinterpreting the chart (which starts at 5 miles btw) it does not even support the claim made in the title. There are plenty of players who run more and indeed contributed more goals+assists per 90 minutes. Messi is obviou

While it is great, there are many instances where you can't make a data request without making an account first including facebook and google services (Alphabet is not on the list btw) which quickly brings up the question, especially i

Also consider using obfuscation instead. E.g. AdNauseam and Noiszy are two examples I'm aware of.

Browser vendors are very much complicit in this abuse, imo cleaning up cookies should be opt-out if they were serious about privacy.

Agreed, autonomous vehicles might offer some benefits inclding road safety in the very long run, however we could do so much better right now if laws were enforced / people were actually following them or just care. The system is des

Otoh Google tries to claim much more moral highground than they actually have. Insincerity does rub people in the wrong way.

Well, you did put coding in quotes yourself. 6 year olds are not developers, saying otherwise is insincere and gives off a bad vibe right from the start.

Still would rather posters were encouraged to post an archive link straight or add a [paywall] tag especially with GDPR hurdles, but fair enough.

Is there a place to give feedback to ycombinator or voice your opinion? I'm very well could be in the minority here but I would rather paywalled articles were discouraged.

I still can't decide whether FB (and others) think they can get away with being non compliant or just accepted violating GDPR is the cost of doing business.

Completely backwards, violators have a choice, either play by the EU rules or move their business elsewhere.

Still don't understand, when your organization pays less tax, you have more money to pay yourself, thus your salary will be higher. Conversely, there is little to no reason for being setup as a non-profit in Ghost's case. [1] http

I don't understand what's absurd about it, you can keep more money if you save on your taxes (both the company's and personal? I don't know how the US system works). I don't argue being a non-profit is a cause for s

Very noble. I was under the impression being setup as a non profit grants various tax optimization strategies / returns. Which can be probably redistributed as salary.
