Many aviation enthusiasts / pilots first go to is to have a look at the flight data - usually available on FlightAware / FlightRadar24 and a few other websites, plus LiveATC usually can provide recordings of the flights communicat

If you've spent your career at a company, who can fire you for not parroting the company line, in a field as small as aviation, chances are you'll not get hired elsewhere, and you'll do as your indirectly expected to.

The elevator (smaller wing on the back) points up or down, pushing the air up or down, which in turn raises or lowers the tail/nose of the plane (it's pitch). Some planes have little cutouts on the back of the elevator that move,

Absolutely - I made a comment a few years ago around the Model S pricing when they compared it to a E or S class Mercedes. The base price of a given vehicle is $35k, and then I'd spend either $1500/yr on fuel and maintenance o, or

I doubt the sinister / political motives - these headlines and articles are nothing more than to drive traffic / revenue. Pick a popular company / product / service, find something that they could be doing, throw up an

I think it's quite the opposite - I think Apple have always had issues with every product launch, but the number of people now using them, and the bar / expectations are so much higher - they can't catch a break, rightly so -

Yes, there's a whole part of training dedicated to Threat and Error Management (TEMs). We don't take risks, but we do generally train for many common failure scenarios in a given plane (everything from incorrectly reading / f

I'm not sure that's a thing - PPL holders are supposed to be able to demonstrate flapless, partial power and glide (no power) approaches; plus low-level navigation. CPLs do more advanced (harder) versions of the same - it's p

Flew from Melbourne International (AU) last week - exactly this happened. Group of us (5-6), swabbed, year, release, next group. Fortunately they let you skip the hand-baggage inspection queue if you get inspected, so I’m usually happy to l

I have a recent hardback version that I lend out to folks interested in flying or are going through their training. While not to everyone’s taste, the style of writing is approachable and distils many somewhat technical concepts (for folks

Not at all. The fact that you can replay any ATC recording is in no way a motivator. Listen to some guard frequencies with aviators displaying such a lack of professionalism it may make you question how we’re allowed to fly. What you’re hea

Most power adapters for electronic devices will take any AC input from 100-240v and transform accordingly to the device (which cares more about DC), but definitely check before plugging it in. The Americas and Japan are 100-127v, and the re

The opinionated flavour makes a lot more sense in a large team - I can pickup a Laravel App, and if it has followed convention, run composer install and be productive within a matter of minutes.

Not OP but I will go out of my way to select Airbus jets; their NVH is noticeably lower than Boeings jets, which results in a far more comfortable travel, especially long-haul (A380 being up there in terms of comfort).

You don’t have to “renounce” your religion or anything to that affect, it’s a checkbox on your income tax / wage form where you choose whether you wish to pay it or not. From what I remember it amount to taking ~1% or so off your salar
