Most of the "past few years" discussion happened when many thought AGI was just around the corner, which would allow robots to take over virtually every job. But it's become clear that isn't happening any time soon.

As a relatively young developer, I have to ask, are comments not a better place to document context? Commit messages are much less discoverable to me than comments when I'm looking at a piece of code. I usually put the "why"

Unfortunately lots of organizations haven't switched to Windows 10 yet, despite end of support.

It only declared and didn't let you individually toggle permissions until version 6.0. You just had to take-or-leave the app as-is. I don't know whether or not it declared them from the very beginning.

That's great when my threat model is "there's a firm boundary between my devices and everything third-party". Now that that's been punctured, it's a nightmare.

I would tend to agree, but a handful of people have a handful of reasons why they like it, and so removing it completely isn't as much of a no-brainer as adding a permission dialog is.

iOS very early-on took on a model of not trusting the software you install on it, and for good reason. Android and the web followed soon afterward. This is the expectation today. Doubly so given Apple's chest-beating about privacy. Thi

The screen capture is from an iPad Pro. It's not clear how it was getting the Macbook clipboard; via AirDrop maybe? Really that just makes it even more concerning. Edit: Apparently it's Just A Thing: https://support.app

Guess I'm never copying and pasting anything sensitive on my phone ever again. Still don't understand why clipboard-sniffing isn't behind a permissions flag.

Irish Gaelic, at least, is available on Duolingo. I've thought about learning it before; I listen to the music constantly and while I don't normally enjoy learning languages, this is one of the few that I feel drawn to based on it

I checked and mine filters people by symptoms at the door and has symptomatic people wait in their cars. But then, something crazy like 70% are asymptomatic, right?

Already did a remote screening and the current thing is a referral. The symptoms are definitely real and not in my head, but my doctor said the chance of it being something serious like cancer is "small".
