1. The iTunes Store is pretty big by now. 2. Apple's Genius recommendations suggests that they are, at the very least, toying with this concept as well.

I like this post; it echos my own thoughts. Well, vocalizes them in a very smart and public manner. Anyway, while making dinner last night, I realized that I care more about why hot dog and hot dog bun packages are differently sized than I

To get that A/B/C, demonstrate that you’re interested in the material, do all the reading, and show up to class every day. Go to the professor’s office hours to ask intelligent questions—like whether you’re on the right track regarding a p

I was a moderator in #xkcd-signal (the original channel ROBOT9000 was run on) for awhile. In the past 12 hours, #xkcd-signal had 55 messages. #xkcd had over 4,000. Its a fun attraction, but not much more. And not something people stay aroun

I'd focus more on l10n into Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Not necessarily in that order. Look at places the app isn't as highly ranked as you'd like it to be. Extra attention to markets where you've had a review or two th

Find motivation. You're not going to get something handed to you on a golden plate. Suck up whatever it is that you're confusing for pride and go to a local community college. Take some classes there. It'll be cheap. As in, work a shift at

Don't underestimate the usefulness of knowing what people are interested in at the moment. Social networking and the like may be gimmicky, but, they don't become popular for no reason. // edit: A better "but, …" might be: "but, Facebook has

No more so than three years ago, when I started lurking. Or two and a half years ago, when I signed up. Or however long ago when I first commented. People are interested in what other people are doing. Techcrunch happens to be a big resourc

So countless hours of tutorials and books later, I ended up using InDesign. It's the best tool you can use. Out of curiosity, have you checked out Quark XPress at all? I very much prefer Quark to InDesign, given the choice. Its UI feels b

Not being able to torture, maim or murder someone is a good thing. Really. If you're not sure about this, you'll just have to take my word on it. But, thats pretty far off-topic. The essence of my point still stands, even if you disagree wi

As little as I like the RIAA/MPAA/etc's policies of suing everyone, I'm finding it even harder to like what amounts to petty cybervandalism.

Not really. If your app is free and has something that vaguely resembles usefulness, you'll likely get a decent number of downloads. And if it reliably crashes, you'll get a decent number of people telling you as much. They usually seem wil

The Crucial RealSSD C300 drive he cites has a theoretical max of 355MB/s. I happen to have have this drive. Writes comes close to 150MB/s at times, after a month and a half of use on OS X (which apparently lacks TRIM). Thats not too shabby.
