> If we use Clojure's philosophy of simple, Python is by no means a simple language, even without classes. There are a lot of special syntax like `with` `as` `elif` `for .. else` and concepts such as `nonlocal`, not even mention gen

OOP is absolutely not a superset of imperative, that would mean that imperative code is OOP code too, which is false.

It is actually, and it is not the basis for almost everything. Functional code is usually declarative instead of being imperative. SQL is declarative, not imperative. The vast majority of the code written is imperative. It uses "if&quo

I like it, but I would describe it as an encoding more than a font. I also think it's 1x5, not 1x8. In that case, it would be more than twice as efficient as the 4x3. In a way, it's a restricted ascii subset.

Minority is often not used in terms of numbers, but in terms of "privilege scale". In that view, women are less privileged than men, and thus get classified as a minority.

Systemic racism is one form of racism, but not the only one. Just because you don't experience systemic racism doesn't mean that you don't experience racism at all. I would say that only hiring non-white people would be preju

The "encoding" argument seems like the perfect use case for a strict type, ideally something that works like a sum type, or union types in TS. I think the difference is that in Python unions are unions of types, and not of values.

My view on this is that recommendation services are made to try to funnel people to the same thing. While they sell some kind of "hyper personalization", they're just another kind of classic marketing. Especially for Netflix.

I think the measure here is "information density on a physical surface". For example, someone commented on a 4x3 font for English: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30046035 . This allows you to put way more inf

That's a good point, I forgot the important part: are people going to notice the difference? I think they would, for people around me, but this would be hard to extend to other places. The reason I think that is that where I live, in F
