Paper maps aren't that hard to get. Whether people will use them has no bearing on whether people can , and therefore they want the convenience of smartphones but only need verbal/paper directions when trying to get somewhere.

I'm very interested to see how this goes, especially since I was not aware of Ireland's particular housing shortage. I'm a big fan of infill/increased urban density in general, as long as it is ~equally beautiful to the

Money is also useful for other measures, such as access to food & housing. I'd prefer a person with no economic value still be able to access commodities that do have economic value.

Womens clothes at most stores don't seem to come with pockets by default. This isn't just skinny jeans and yoga pants; chinos, straight cut jeans, and nicer slacks also have conspicuously shitty pockets. I'm sure there do exi

I could see this being a major factor. It reminds me of wealthy white women's "hysteria" / other mental health issues of the past (ex. https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2013/01/16/eternal-hypochon

I agree shootings do large societal harm past the students at the school (though to be fair, I'd say the opposite side could correctly argue that TikTok makes lasting changes to children/society beyond just the ones that use it (a

According to Washington Post data, there were 393,289 students enrolled at schools during shootings in the past 10 years[0]. (Note this is total enrollment, not those present or injured) In 2022, there were ~25.1 million teens[1], of whom ~

I could definitely see something like MeToo being a cause, but I still would put that as a "social media" effect and not a "women's/girl's irl day-to-day lives get worse" effect. Most of my family voted fo

As far as "having it all" -- female employment has basically not changed since 1990[0], and given the decline in the US birth rate, expectations of motherhood have probably decreased as well. I could see "having it all"

Interesting. I would much rather be a (white liberal) teen girl today than in ~2012, but I can see how insofar as Dobbs is only a manifestation of existing trends, I might be in the minority. It's just hard to wrap my head around what

I feel like this could be a reasonable explanation for the race piece, but I'm unsure how it connects to the female & liberal pieces. I'm not sure being a conservative male has gained a lot of social status in the past decade,

I'm not trying to be annoying, but I genuinely don't understand what you mean by huge expectations of "having it all" for women (at least insofar as it relates to any trend starting ~2012, when the large growth in depres

Notably, though, the charts start showing massive growth in depression around 2012, which was long before Dobbs. And there are some trends in the opposite direction - iirc hormonal birth control used to be much harder to get (telehealth has

This seems unnecessarily anti-free market. What makes you think that cultured meat (or any other alternative) is sludge that shouldn't even be allowed to be sold? Plenty of work goes into making alternatives, and there are legitimate r
