Why would anyone reboot a system, instead of putting it to sleep¹? (Except when restart is required by an upgrade.) [1] Powered-off-and-ram-image-stored-to-disk type of sleep.

Both were my mains points, but I see the " http:// problem bigger. It's too unpronounceable prefix for every-day use (because of combination of letters h+t+t+p and three punctuation marks after that!), so people simply skip it. Because nor

You cannot directly compare digital camera megapixels with display megapixels. The former uses Bayer-interpolation (except very few cameras with Foveon sensor) while the latter has true RGB pixels. In the other words, the digital camera's p

Why just not to pipe all the traffic through SSH proxy (-D) to avoit user agent filtering? Or do they also block connections to other ports than 80? (Telcoms are really ripping off people in some contries. I pay 14 EUR per month for unlimit

Wow. Not big fan of Gnome personally & haven't used Linux desktop since 2006, but that GUI looks definitely elegant. (Hopefully they have gotten things right under the hood, too.)

Interesting indeed. If you think all the new tech in WW2 (missile, radar, atom bomb, Enigma, u-boat), calling the WW2 "the first war of engineering" isn't far from the truth.

I think the opposite: credit card users subsidize the use of cash. I hardly believe the former can be more expensive than the latter – if you take into account all the physical effort required to replace / collect / move around the pieces o

By definition, the scheme name is part of the URL. A form not accepting properly formed URL is broken. If they add the http:// prefix without informing the user, shame on them.

"Style resets" – I wish it was that simple. Sure you can get the same look by using lot of images (versus pure-css styling) etc., but then you loose all the benefits of vector-based graphics and/or fluid/elastic layouts. Good designer infor

My biggest concern is that one cannot comfortably & safely type while walking. Just let your imagination fly & type later at home? Anyway, I would first practice read-only browsing e.g. with Vuzix Tac-Eye LT¹ attached to iPhone (or

I see two problems: 1) The refill station has a lifetime of only 1000 hours of operation (1000 refills) and costs $500! C'mon, the best li-poly batteries has lifetime of 1000 cycles! 2) With 12 Wh per 83 g, the stick has roughly same energy

You can right now buy MacBook Pro 15" with 1680x1050 display or MBP 17" with 1920x1080 display. The pixel size on those displays is pretty darn tiny; I doubt higher pixel density makes sense on laptop due to further viewing distance (compar
