Too bad they didn't include camera module connector (CSI). Low-latency hardware-encoded h264 stream from camera is one of the most cool features in RPi platform. The Zero would be great e.g. for FPV fying folks, if it supported camera

It's about priorities. This [small budget] project priorities open source hw/sw, not industrial design. Good industrial design isn't cheap, easy nor comes for free.

HTTP 1.1: 2.0 s HTTP 2.0: 1.6 s Not very dramatic diffence. Location Europe, using 4G connection. HTTP 2.0 is surely nice for initial page load but for subsequent data loads I prefer websocket (in the context of SPAs).

The most of cheap "rasperryPi compatible touch screens" use SPI interface (GPIO) which has very limited data rate, only suitable for 320x240 / low FPS graphics without any kind of HW acceleration. HDMI compatible touch screen

There's nothing irrationale about that. One disadvantage of the battery technology is that "half-filling" a battery doesn't half its weight. A Tesla-sized battery pack for 100 km daily trip wastes lot of energy (several

> If you often use the gas engine, you are wasting gas hauling around extra-large batteries ... but batteries can still provide lot of gas-free kilometers before becoming a dead weight, making big contribution to your mpg.

Just out of curiosity, don't you consider homebrew "decent" or do you want official package manager from Apple? (App Store effectively being Apple's solution?)

Seems that Windows is adopting more and more * nix stuff. I wonder why one uses Windows in the first place if * nix stuff is what she needs?

What the user does with the ram does not really matter. 16 GB is baseline nowadays and the price difference between 16 and 32 GB is minimal. So it's perfectly valid for power user to want at least 32 GB RAM (personally I would happily

I meant "crazy cheap" as lithium-based product, i.e. compared to other lithium chemistry storages. Sure, lead-acid technology still offers better capacity/price ratio, but lithium chemistry has many advantages especially when

That's crazy cheap. The closest competitor which comes into my mind is probably SMA Sunny Boy Smart inverter with lithium battery, costing more than double while offering only 2 kWh of energy (but includes a solar inverter).

I didn't watch the video and cannot properly explain it, but there is direct mechanical connection from ICE to wheels. AFAIK both MG1 and MG2 can work as motors and generators and spin in either direction. If you apply proper counter

Funny how suddenly all good web design principles are thrown away and new HN clones build, just because the original was built by Paul Graham who isn't much a UX guy.

While the $33 is impressive price tag, just a reminder that you can buy a "Chinese" Android tablet with twice as capable hardware (800x480 screen, 512 MB ram etc) for $50.
