I'm shocked! Shocked I say! I've seen this coming for a decade. Dealers are practically giving the cars away with near 0% financing. Everything in the financial world has been a race to the bottom for a long time. You can say it s

This is why ECC is important. Many many people poo poo the idea that it's needed. But by not having it you have left a single vital part of the data path unprotected. And ram and disk is cheap, losing your data is not. The risk simply

Oh, well it's ported from Solaris to illumos and FreeBSD and to a lesser extent OS X and Linux. So I'm still confused about the portability claim.

ZFS not portable? Have you ever used it? "ZFS export" on the host system, remove drives, insert drives in new server, "ZFS import" on the new server, It really is that simple.

If you actually care about your data you simply will have to switch platforms. Illumos or FreeBSD. Linux has no answer to the horrors of garbage Filesystems and garbage lying hardware, firmware etc that has plagued UNIX admins for ever. Btr

I have complained on bsd related threads before how the industry as a whole should be appalled and embarrassed to their core for using core tools, utils like OpenSSH and not giving a damn penny in return to fund its development. Everyone us

My guess was Netflix, and then someone reminded me of Nintendo now that the switch is out. So those would be my two guesses as to who is leaning on them. Perhaps iXsystems as well.

I'm a big fan of rail. I wish we had a bullet train going from E to W coast through Kansas City. I would happily pay more taxes for it. The thing for me is ive never understood why the cost per mile is so freaking outrageously stupidly

As I've said earlier in this story thread, you CANT restrict a RIGHT. If you can it's not a right it is a privelage. The courts are quite clear we have a constitutional right not privelage to keep and bear arms. Perhaps the state
