Just curious, not a C developer by any means, but why wouldn't you use a function here instead of a goto? I'm confused how goto would reduce error/improve readability in that example. Again, not criticizing, genuinely want to

There was some discussion about this on HN [1]. Pretty interesting that it only got 183 votes. Usually when people talk about Apple's security holes, it generates much more discussion (criticism) and votes. [1] https://news.

According to Gruber[1], it's not Dash itself, but it's the apps that the developer had created on his other accounts. [1]: http://daringfireball.net/2016/10/apple_dash_controversy

I wasn't really directing all of what I said to you, but just commenting about Playgrounds versus other resources in general. And yes, it uses real Swift syntax which is its main goal, according to the "Platforms State of the Unio

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think starting out with parenthesis based programming language is the best starting point for new programmers. You'll probably just scare them. I'm saying this with my huge love for Scheme. O

Just curious, why would a package manager using a folder under the home directory be weird?

Unless /nix modifies files/folders, then no, you don't need to modify your install instructions. SIP only prevents users from modifying system level files. It does not prevent you from adding to, or deleting your own files

Nope, System Integrity Protection only affects you if you delete/modify system level files. It does not prevent you from creating a `/nix` directory with regular root privileges, nor does it prevent you deleting it with root pri

Just a minor nitpick, vnoremap creates a mapping for select and visual modes. You should use xnoremap as that's restricted to visual mode only. Select mode is used by snippet engines mostly, and you don't want this mapping to affe

I used to use Inconsolata-g pretty much all the time, even had that in my css for the browser so it would always use Inconsolata-g for github/bitbucket code blocks. I've switched to Fira Mono since then and couldn't be happie

Apple apparently restricted this due to performance limitations. I have an iPhone 5, and found a way to get around this restriction by building a content blocker myself. It's pretty easy, just a list of JSON rules. You can use this pro

Apparently it's a performance issue. From apple[1]: Note: Apps containing content blocking extensions for Safari on iOS are available only on 64-bit devices, due to performance limitations of 32-bit devices. [1]: https:/

There's a dedicated "Privacy" setting in the Settings app. You could disable everything from there, including some Location Services, even the ones used for system services like Cell Network Search and setting the time zone.

I hate this change too, but I believe this was done to improve the frame rates. 10.11 finally has smooth Mission control animations on a retina display, even when a lot of apps are up and running, which is great. I don't see any other

There are lots of diagnostic reports that are run in beta versions. On the latest beta of 10.11, I easily get 8-9 hours battery life with brightness set to the middle with Safari, iTerm, Mail and iTunes running. Are you using Chrome/fl

Yes. Also, more often than not, OS X GM is the version that's released to the public. Even if they do update GM versions, it's still a delta update between the final GM and the subsequent release (10.11.1 in this case)

I think as we've seen on Surfaces and on many other tablets, styluses can be pretty useful for pro-sumers. So why not allow Apple to eat their own words and create a well-designed easy to use, functional stylus? The only downside here

How so? You get AppleCare+, which is $99, and if you compare that with AT&T, it's cheaper per month, unless I'm missing something. It's also unlocked so you can freely switch carriers. I think there's a lot of people

You can tell they changed the name to 3D touch very late in the development. Most of them probably still call it Force Touch. I liked the name Force Touch. A little creepy, sure, but it made sense, and basically told you what to do.

I don't think so. If the ordinary user doesn't know about it, they won't care. They'll still continue to press as normal. When they do discover it, they'll try it again to see if they like it, if they don't the

You just have to double click the ttf files (or select them all and double click one of them) and it will install. Don't need to move them manually.
