AI is not my coworker, with different tasks and responsibilities. The comparison is oniy reasonable if most of your job is spent trying to understand their code, and make sure it did what you wanted. And with them standing next to you, read

Same as github, then. Same as photoshop. Same as any SAAS. I've don't see how I've lost agency. It's not like it's made me a worse coder: getting so much faster with AI hasn't made me slower without it.

I've been coding for 25+ years. My code has never been cleaner. With AI, refactoring is cheap and safe.

AI solves that problem with brute force: if you need 5x fewer engineers working on an application, your team will find coordination 5x easier.

It's not about an engineer shortage - it's about exponentially cheaper and faster engineering. I could not have attempted to create the application I have created without it. As far as money-making - I wager it's helped me a

I don't think that my product demos will tell you much about how effective AI has been, but here: https://youtube.com/@groove-tronic Now you can't say nobody has anything to show. This does real-time DSP (time str

If other engineers are getting the productivity boost that I am from AI, then we are just scratching the surface of it's effect on the economy. And if they aren't, then they will be soon enough.

I don't know, I don't entirely understand it either, but I think people are just impatient. AI coding has only hit it's stride in the last ~6 months. And there's a huge part of the business process that isn't coding

It's quite simple: Nobody is lying and nobody who is any good is going to be nickle and dimed at a chop shop for long.

I think you've hit on half the actual issue. The other half is that a properly guided AI is exponentially faster at junior tasks than a junior engineer. So much so that it's no longer in anyone but the junior engineer's inter

IMHO, not really, if you know what you want. There will always be small things to fix, but if there needs to be a second draft, I would hazard that the PR was too big all along: a problem whether an AI is involved or not.

If you don't specify otherwise, yes. With respect, if vibe coding isn't giving you the results you want, the problem is no longer the AI.

What you are missing is that estimates of ADHD heritability vary between 60 and 90%. There's a lots of one can do to overcome and accommodate it, but one of the first steps is to approach neurotypical productivity advice with substanti

I suspect there's more to it than that. Some people are sprinting with this stuff, but it seems that many more are bouncing off it, bruised. It's a tell. Something is different. It's an entirely new way of thinking, nobody is

Apart from requiring entirely the opposite solution? With respect, if there's an AI bubble, I can't see it for all the sour grapes, every time it's brought up, anywhere.

When debugging, I'll coax the AI to determine what went wrong first - to my satisfaction - and have it go from there. Otherwise it's a descent into madness.

IMHO, the thirty minute developer would still save 10 minutes by vibe coding. That marketing's not wrong. Spelling out exactly what you want and checking/fixing what you receive is still faster than typing out the code. Moreover,

One's a storefront. The other is a foundation of society. These are not the same magnitude of sin, particularly since one's shortcomings are large reason for the existence of the other.
