I'm going to sound really entitled saying this, but I hate morning status meetings because they eventually end up being used as a "this is a reasonable time to expect you to be in the office by" kinda measuring stick lol. It

Yeah it's pretty funny how people have a problem paying as much for their laptop as they do for their phone lol.

As long as they don't forbid companies from using OSS inside of (or to produce) a commercial product, I don't really see the problem? It'd actually give companies a competitive advantage. Speaking of that, it's absurd ho

Short answer: A lot of optometrists I've been to seem to only carry acuvue and can't imagine anyone wanting to use anything else. My mom used to have a favorite brand that wasn't acuvue and we'd have to argue it out with

The town I grew up in had a chinese restaurant downtown, right where all the busses stopped at the end of their routes. My mom and I went there all the time, since it was one of our favorite places to eat. I knew most of their family lol -

o_O Compared to what? G3s and G4s are pretty light on power usage - IIRC they use around 10-15w? The G3s were even less. The i7 in my desktop uses at least 95w, and some reviews suggest it's more like 140w lol. Edit: Unless you're

I am also pretty happy with WSL, but I'm even happier that I was able to get a mac at work lol. Although I admit, sometimes the BSD toolchain poses some rather hilarious speedbumps. At that point WSL can be smoother? Weird.

To be fair, tract houses are usually built poorly and don't age well. The 1960s tract house I currently rent is hot garbage and it would be better/safer to tear it down and rebuild, than it would to fix it up.

This can't be good for Apple's reputation amongst kids in school though! Apple is basically pulling what Chrysler and GM used to do with rental cars where they sold an even cheaper version for rental use. It gives a terrible first

I'm honestly not sure which. My favorite local fish place has a webpage with a "menu" link at the top that goes to .. a long scrolly list WITH PRICES. HOLY SHIT. Why can't more places be like that?

Historically, some spotify ads would straight up say they were being annoying to get you to subscribe. "if you subscribe you don't have to listen to these ads anymore!"

Fuck spotify. Their ads were so repulsive that when I finally did want to subscribe to a music service, I went with Apple Music instead. Partially out of spite.

Turn off your internet when doing work. Buy a stack of Postgre books. Memorize them. Never, ever, ever use stack overflow. EVER. Don't use google. Memorize everything. That's what that asshole is looking for. :) Though to be fair,

Rawr! Also, one person working crazy hours will not magically save the day on a project. Even if it does, the exec/product owner/whatever is going to get the bonus.

Open offices aren't so bad if you have a large personal space (eg, large desk and some room to move around). If you have a small/standard desk, it gets a lot worse.

Sadly, Apple seems more like the company to cut products that "don't produce enough growth". Look at how they killed off the ipod, airport, and time capsule devices. At the moment it seems if something isn't selling like

I don't believe that's the problem. Popular US market cars like the Accord have a few things in common: 1. They have a sunroof/moonroof, which makes the ceiling lower. 2. The larger sedans tend to have very slanted windshield

On pay gaps and snacks: I've seen the opposite! Companies that pay less tend to have more spartan (and dated) facilities, cheap toilet paper, and no snacks. I've heard of some companies even having "water clubs" and &quo
