Police unions want large busybody departments and they don't care who pays. They just know that once a new police officer is hired SOMEONE will pay.

This is a horrific comparison, and supports the case for more diversification of Apple's product lines not less. Kimberly Clark is an extremely diversified company in the home goods and HBA market. Some of the brands they own: Kleenex

Why invest in Apple if so much of its value is wrapped up in one product line? This is the challenge facing Apple.

Corporate exploitation of our natural resources is an entirely different topic. There are some tangential parallels, but overall I find that analogy pretty weak.

The difference between then and now is that there is much more awareness about what is considered right and wrong with regards to our national parks. Not only that, but folks are much more educated now then they were 100 years ago. You wou

Last I saw it was about an even when expressed as a percentage of GDP (around 44%). I don't think the that really invalidates my main point. The Chinese have a massive industrial over-capacity that will have to be either liquidated or

The best evidence I have seen for falling Chinese demand for natural resources is over-capacity, and not some tranistion to a services based economy. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/05/07/more-pain-ahead-for-china-st

Investing in HomeAway based on Airbnb's value assumes BOTH are fairly valued. HomeAway's p/e is over 400 right now on a $3 billion market cap. AirBnB is valued at $51 billion.

WCF has quite a bit of adoption in the .NET community. I am currently working on a major WCF project that uses TCP streaming and named pipes. This is the third project I have worked on that uses WCF, and I have been working on the .NET pla

Yeah I am not so sure I would serve content using Katana. I am using it to horizontally scale out data services used by clients around the world, hosted in Azure. It's simple to deploy and manage. I also don't have to mess with

Katana can host your services for you outside of IIS. You can use Web API and Nancy with it. I am sure someone has figured out how to setup servicestack as well.

WCF was built for the WS-* world, and as such is over-loaded with complexity that is covered up by way way too much abstraction. If you don't need WS-*, use Web API services self hosted with Katana if you need to exchange data between

The push to open source started under Ballmer and has been gaining momentum the past few years. You saw some of the very early open source work debut when Scott Guthrie open sourced ASP.NET MVC 2 in 2010. He (Guthrie) blogged a few times a
