How is this not driving things forward? It's the best terminal emulator I've ever used.

I switched to Pocket Casts because the official Apple app changed their UI to a recommendation feed instead of a plain timeline. I only listen to podcasts on a single device, anyone have suggestions for alternatives? I don't mind payin

When I switched to Immich, I thought I was going to give up a lot for the sake of self hosting. To my surprise, it’s actually better than anything I’ve used from Apple or Google. Unicorns exist, they are just rare.

I don’t know what output to the VGA means from the OP. I suspect that entire project was vibe coded including the readme. It’s a common first step when writing an OS for x86 but for riscv you don’t use vga to get text output, you go through

There is a todo in the putchar stub. Looks like it’s not implemented yet. I have it implemented here in my own roughly 1k line zig kernel: https://github.com/Fingel/aeros-v/blob/ddc6842291e9cf4876729...

Oh please. This isn't like the old iPhone days where new features and amazing tech were revealed during live demos. Failure was acceptable then because what we were being shown was new and pushing the envelope. Meta and friends have be

The difference between this demo and the legendary demos of the past is that this time we are already being told AI is revolutionary tech. And THEN the demo fails. It used to be the demo was the reveal of the revolutionary tech. Failure was

https://imgur.com/a/konsole-vs-ghostty-tR4Otmy This is stock Konsole vs Ghostty. Notice Ghostty also has multiple tabs open. There is just so much waste in the Konsole UI.

It's a scrolling window manager, so almost a completely different paradigm (that I find superior) to normal tiling WMs. Ironically the entire scrolling WM craze started with the PaperWM Gnome extension. I still use it, it's great.

Do you have any examples where power features aren't accessible? The OP used a wifi applet as an example of exposing information. I'm not sure if this isn't as common as I think it is - but what's wrong with typing `ip`

KDE the desktop is consistent. The problem is the applications aren't. It's completely possible to run a GNOME desktop without a single QT app, it's near impossible to use KDE without any GTK apps. And there are so, so many g

I believe this was written by the same person who wrote Operating System in 1000 Lines[1] which was high quality and super fun to work through. So this is definitely going on the rainy day list. A book from this person would be amazing! [1]
