This is absolutely the best comment on HN in years. OMM turned game reviewing into a SCIENCE with TTC ratings.

My friend uses the Windows Media Server, which was discontinued in 10. He still runs 8 for it. It's his DVR, and it spreads live TV around his house. I believe it requires Windows Media Play on all playback devices. This would make his

I made the jump off of HFS+ a few months back, as soon as I heard a new FS was coming. After years of keeping TBs of data on Mac OS on HFS+ as a home file server, I was just completely fed up. My external volumes were dead without a Mac. No

OpenOffice was 100% garbage from day 1 until Libre actually showed up. It was never viable under Sun's watch. Source: I used it full time for 6 years, filled with hatred.

Agreed. Oracle does kill products and end teams, but no more so than other large acquireres. Hell, it is NOTHING compared to Yahoo! or HP. HP is the absolute kings of ruining products and teams long term, while Yahoo! has killed more acquir

Just installed my second Mint machine for desktop work yesterday. Really cannot complain. The difference in desktop responsiveness between this 7 year old Mint machine versus a brand new PC or Mac is night and day. Every modern OS needs a m

I am almost ashamed to admit I have read these forums for years as a sort of exercise in voyeuristic schadenfreude. I just love reading about drug culture, watching drug movies, etc. Just like I love gangster movies. I can't explain it

SF Main is an example of a library gone wrong: it's literally a homeless camp, and smells horrible because of it. Oakland has better control: they have a bit of standards, and don't allow homeless people to impede the use by regul
