Either label needn't be used: if someone thinks the effort isn't worth it, you can have a discussion on what risks will or won't actually play out in practice without having to label anyone anything.

One of my frustrations is how people often seem to drift towards one of the extremes on either side of this argument. Technically, the approach described in this article is called 'pragmatism', but in practice, people have used th

Yeah exactly, if you allow mixed-use zoning, you don't need a highway through town.

Which is an improvement over when it used to use the Word engine to render HTML email, IIRC.

I'm not sure if that's true. In my country, most towns don't have a highway that run through them, and there are no calls to change that. People like easy access to the highways, but that means easily getting out of town to g

Why should something that goes through a town be a highway? Highways should be between and around towns. A town itself is for living in, and anyone coming into town should do so in a way that respects that (i.e. not at high speed). That als

A proper speed limit is not just a number on a sign. You can add curves, change the surface material, road width, etc. Not much policing required.

A bit off-topic, but since I was looking at doing a side project with a P2P feature, would appreciate if I could pick your brain for a bit: don't you still need to run the STUN and TURN servers? Can you run those using Vercel's se

Yep, that's it! I settled for generating the manifest.json through a script, since at some point adding something only supported by one browser would cause an error in the other, though I think that may have been remedied now.

SVG is Inkscape's native file format (albeit it adds some of its own extensions by default), so yes.

In particular, navigating the conflicting requirements for `manifest.json` would be useful, e.g. the difference between event pages and background service workers, or permissions that are inconsistently required/forbidden.

I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, including the UK, but I believe here in the Netherlands, ordering from Aliexpress counts as importing, i.e. if you were to sell that on to others (like a drop-shipper), you're the retailer, b

Looks like it's back now. IIRC HN automatically removes "Why" at the start of a title - at least I didn't consciously remove it.

I think if someone on Mastodon comments on a Ghost blog, then Mastodon will tell Ghost that they did so (via ActivityPub). Then if someone on Pixelfed sees that blog, Pixelfed will ask Ghost who has commented on it (via ActivityPub). Ghost

ActivityPub is basically bidirectional RSS. So you can e.g. read Ghost posts on Mastodon, but then also reply to them and have that show up for other readers as well.

Well, since it's a web client, it's pretty easy to just try it out, but the benefit of Phanpy is not that it's a web client. It's just it has a lot of nice little UI touches that make it very pleasant to use. There'
