I guess I'm using "memory safety" very broadly and not literally, which I admit is not good. But, the borrow-checker seems to be significantly safer than anything else I've read about. Having no null pointer sounds very

I guess I'm starting a language war, but... I see how Rust is on that list. I don't get how the other languages are on that list. I mean, yes, I guess they're marginally better than C and C++ at memory-safety, but... just b

So, just to be clear, you think Twitter (and by extension Musk and Tesla), along with GM, Audi, Mazda, Porsche, VW, and Ford are being manipulated by activist groups? Or do you think it's more likely that GM, Audi, Mazda, Porsche, VW,

Convince me that's not extortion. Think about some company that was just starting to think about advertising on Twitter. And now Elon Musk is threatening that if you ever stop advertising with them, he will try to convince his follower

If you're dynamically building a page, you'll have state while you're building and rendering it. SQL queries, etc.

    by VikingCoder 4y ago

Sure, I get that - which is why I'm thinking about the HTTP GET scenario, because each Request is almost entirely stateless on entry. Sure, it builds up state, but that could all be in an Arena with the scope of the Request.

I've thought about similar stuff, but I'm on a slightly different path. I'm picturing a long-running server, and people wanting to run experiments on it. Like, the next time an HTTP GET comes in, please use my new code. In m

You show your driver's license or state issued ID, and your ticket is tied to that. I've done that before. It was a bit more inconvenient, honestly, but it got me tickets to something I was happy to see, and it cut out scalpers.
