I couldn't agree more. Most of the members of the team here will most likely vest as well, and the way employee performance can affect vesting is very much a relevant question to them. To go back one step, saying a manager must decide

Besides bringing nothing of value compared to existing licence plates, these would be more expensive and insecure. They would probably have a vastly worse carbon footprint, and consume way more energy and resources to make.

It depends how the decision is made. If: a) other employees did not think the fired person performed poorly b) the decision of firing without compensation just before the vesting period is made by the founder only then this will be a nightm

I am surprised that Amazon had the gall to call this project "Iliad". I am even more surprised that anyone could consider a design decision anything else than intentional. Dark patterns are by definition intentional. Is this a que

This is a bit of an oversimplification (read in books from Erich Fromm I think), but depression, when caused by external factors, occurs when one can neither evade the cause of stress, nor find a way to address it constructively. Depression

I never have either, and this would be an immediate red flag in my book. If an employer has such bad practices when they try to recruit you, I can't imagine that working for them could be anything one would want.

Also, the article says Bellingcat received under 100k last year from the NED, so maybe a salary for a permanent employee. This is a very light investment if the goal was to effect large impacts on major targets.

Something good for users would be access to previous worlde puzzles, it provides added content and fun to users, and sustains creation. Pricing doesn't have to be exploitative either.

Indeed, it's the exact same issue, and the behavior of these companies is as cynical and wrong in Russia, China, and any and all other places where they act this way.

I think (hope) that the deterministic model known as lock and key has been known to be a flawed view for quite some time. Books published in the early 00s (notably "Ni Dieu ni gène", by Kupiec and Sonigo) were already making this
