The problem is that most of the gameplay code is linear, and people have already gotten good at splitting parallel work across threads. Serious physics engines (see jolt) are already designed to run on another thread and distribute the work

Unity learned that they have to turn the temperature up slower. They kept the new license that everyone was mad about but just made it so you can keep your current license if it's cheaper for you. No doubt they'll be tweaking thes

Unless they're somehow 110 times better than everyone else, this indicates some powerful nepotism.

I'm pretty sure the constitution was not written for slaves and no "originalist" stance would consider them. This is a silly "gotcha" that you just made up so you can get mad.

Ad hominem. The system you're defending has set the bar so incredibly low that I just need to do "okay" and my children are infinitely more well off. Homeschooled kids consistently do far better than kids who attend public sc

This is some insane logic. The goal of the game isn't just to get the player to stop playing. Obviously two players haven't reached the same point just because one quit because he doesn't want to replay the starting levels ag

Can you be more specific than teaching math "at the college level"? In America, after 13 years of public education by professional teachers, they're lucky if they've even taken an introduction to calculus or trigonometry

Teachers in the US are extremely well paid once you consider their obscenely good retirement benefits, insurance, and time off each year. Most teachers don't have to pay into social security because they get their own separate plan. It

Being caught up in "reactive nonsense" is an oxymoron. By definition you're saying they're reacting to something else, so they're not the ones pushing it.

This has nothing to do with "the bidding of donors trying to drive school vouchers" or whatever conspiracy that is. We just don't want teachers pushing their political views on children.

I don't think they were victims or deceived. It's normal for companies to set metrics that can't be legitimately achieved and then closing their eyes and pretending they don't know what's going on. A waste disposal

If this is true, we just need to make companies liable for their subcontractors. They apparently know they can escape responsibility by farming out work they're not supposed to do.

This is peak hackernews right here. No, modern developers couldn't just "easily jump back into writing everything in asm". More importantly, no one was talking about writing everything in assembly, he was complaining about 20

Maybe in 20 years people will be complaining about all games taking up 10 TB of space and we'll have people rationalizing the practice because people used to complain about 20 GB patches. Games coming on multiple CDs was a painful expe

Nintendo likes to sell its consoles at a profit, so they might have just decided that even an extra $10 per console wasn't worth it.

I'm alright with that. If our government uses a blogpost as an excuse to pass bad laws, we had very little chance to begin with. I also hate the idea of changing our behavior to babysit a bunch of deprecated boomers who fear technology
