I hope this decision leads to better value railway journeys for regular people. I love taking the train places, for me when I’m going on holiday the journey is part of it, I find rail travel to be low stress and relaxing. The trip from St P

This document is insane. It feels like everyone involved in the production of it is so utterly disconnected from reality. That first page “Trajectory of innovation” with the pseudograph is an utterly hilarious distillation of the madness ye

I feel this is a particularly bad article, especially coming from an official Red Hat sysadmin blog. That said it’s definitely worth talking about. Last time I looked into it, Red Hat still ship software using many of those commands in the

I’m reminded of the KISS principle - which is held in high regard on a number of distros. I would interpret “no handholding” to mean “easy to implement”. As I understand it - Simple, as a term of art, doesn’t often mean easy. Simplicity is

Thanks for the reply, it looks like there’s a lot of avenues and differences of value which are worth exploring here. Personally, I’m happy with a little excess on my personal systems, documentation is a must for me, but it’s a great remind

Drew mentions his workstations and laptops run Alpine, i don’t have much experience with the system outside of using it as a base for some docker containers. I wonder what the pitfalls and corner cases he encountered are when he set it up.

Any new system I’ve used since about 2011 has been able to boot reliably from USB. The only issues really come down to how the thumb drive is prepared. Usually `dd` is good enough for Linux/Unix disk images, and preparing an exFAT/
