To be noted: this is written by Jean-Louis Gassée, former Apple executive and founder of Be Incorporated, which was at some point very close to be bought by Apple before Apple bought NeXT to get the foundation of what is now Mac OS X. (whic

Here's a modified version of it: https://skitch.com/timothee/fxnjf/the-shapes-of-css Basically, the triangle is made of only the bottom border . The top border is of width 0px so doesn't show. The element itself is 0x0px so doesn't show

The :before and :after add one element of 60px x 60px on each side of the original element. "border: 20px solid red;" and "border-radius: 50px 50px 0 50px;" makes these elements' border round on three sides and square on the bottom right. (

Fair enough. I don't have any evidence either way to be honest, I was mostly explaining why he was mentioned in the post. Though, in any case, one thing you can be sure of is that when he blogs about something, it gets significant attention

To be more verbose than molecule: Gruber is an Apple-focused blogger who gained a lot of influence in the Apple world over time. A lot of people interested in the Apple "world" follow his blog. So, if he were to get this problem and blog

Not everyone with an Apple ID can log in, only paying developers. I have a free developer account and was able to log in. I don't have a @me.com address so I couldn't check Mail, but the rest worked.

To be clear (I don't think I'm putting words in schrototo's mouth), the ROKR was the disaster created jointly by Motorola and Apple. What was special about it? It had a dedicated key to bring up iTunes. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motoro

Well… I don't know. Sure, it's easy to think "look, YC changed the title because it gave a bad light to a YC company!" and that might be part of it. But the truth is that this story only got the spotlight here because it had AirBnB in the s

I would think that people flagging the story is weighing it down. If the talk is good, why would it be flagged? Maybe because the title of the submission is kind of sensationalistic relative to the talk. The talk is about working more on so

I'd say that not only bonuses work per quarters but budgets are generally allocated in quarters or semesters as well. Typically, budgets allocated for one period need to be used in that period, otherwise it's "lost" and you don't get as muc

From the author of the poll further down: my NYC salary of $176,000 That explains (to me) a lot the choice of ranges for the poll. $176k seems to be on the high-end worldwide. Overall, because of the buckets and the problem with the wide
