Am I the only one who feels like a 40 hour work week is excessive? I feel like 8 hours of work in a day is eeking out diminishing returns on a persons productivity. Secondly, if you account for "productivity" hours instead of &quo

Only circumstantially in IMHO. Obscurity can be a semi-decent security tool in some situations, and in others completely and utterly useless. It depends on what you're trying to secure.

For sure, though I will say if you're trying to cut costs, it's my understanding serverless is quite cheap. So if you can turn some of your services into serverless containers/functions. I'd highly recommend it.

I'm as atheist as they come, but I guess it's a little weird how many religions describe the earth as being completely covered in water initially. Maybe it's a coincidence and a natural progression in thought when thinking up

I get the same impression to some extent, but I'd be hardpressed to say I wouldn't cave and do the same thing to be completely honest. Who wants to work a 9-5 their entire life? I personally don't.

Wow I had no idea those ads on wikipedia were blatant lies. I've never donated but I've definitely thought about it a few times whenever I saw those ads. This is somewhat eye-opening.

Children grouping together for school is a massive transmission vector no? I don't think this is necessarily about protecting specifically kids and rather reducing transmission.

Honestly it just seems mostly coincidental to me. Reddit has downtimes every other day or every few days, and twitter only slightly less. The only unique downtime here is github, and even then it has been a bit since their last down time.

Everyone is in bed with each other. They all inside trade, they all bribe each other for different leverages. And a lot of plebeians support it ironically.

Socialism lacks checks and balances because it's a decentralized/distributed model of rule. Now in reality it's possible the military could exist as a pseudo "check and balance". But checks and balances do not exist

My last company did stuff like this all the time, and it always felt hollow and very kumbaya. I think there is a less cheesy and even demeaning way to handle people's emotions and disagreements. This is probably a pretty personal opini

It comes back to distribution of power and if you believe power is all corrupting or not. You either have some guys in charge managing things, or you attempt a distributed/mob rules mentality in regards to policies and legislation. Eit

I mean, this is so far out of my wheel house I can't even claim to know anything about this stuff. But why couldn't a form of an unconscious camera exist? We could theoretically just look at pictures of the past from an unconsciou

Haha I think that's the point of OP's post IMO, and people were even discussing this dichotomy in that thread as well. Total gold, nothing in this world is clean or definitive.

IMHO I think one large part of it is synchronization. If you're having to synchronize things all the time, you're probably misusing threads and should be using a different execution model.
