Veloren is not a major game, it's not even considered a successful indy game.

This game uses Unreal engine so it's most likely all in C++ or most of it. We don't really know about the state or what game is built in Rust a Embark, but 2 majors games they work on are in C++.

GDScript sucks big time. It has not place in an engine, why would anyone ever invent a very inferior language to what already exists. They should have used C#.

Who is actually using JMAP? I never heard of that, what's the point of implementing something that is not used at all.

Ubuntu is still a better experience than Debian on the desktop, many many packages are built and tested for Ubuntu and not debian. Ubuntu also as better hardware integration ( drivers ) and more modern kernels. AS a matter of fact it has ma

Planetside 2 netcode is terrible, people forget that it runs at 5hz, at that sim speed any game can put 100's of people on screen. Also client side hit detection, lol. Full of cheat and completely inacurate gameplay.

async does not work great, maybe for simple poc but once you start diging it's not well done. The debugging part is even worse.

Those are not mainstream language, they probably lack libraries for most common use case, also most likely not as fast as Rust and probably even Go.

Then you can't use anything else than C/C++/Rust with that argument. Also the twice as fast therefore using twice less power is wrong.

You blame an app not built to run on Proton to be the issue? EA desktop / origin works just fine on Windows, I use it since 2013 without any issues.

It does though, MMO are very complicated to do and there is a lot of tech to build by specialized people. The content is an other issue. You won't build anythinng close to wow bellow 100M.
