It doesn't make sense to compare 1 person gaming or clothes drying to a specific mining machine. The consideration was about global bans and total outputs from those activities.

Imposing global technological bans so willy-nilly seems like a nice idea only on the surface. Things like machine drying your clothes at home in the US (uncommon in Europe so seems frivolous) uses as much if not more energy. Others might co

Good way to spin having only 4GB vram into an 'anti-mining feature' I guess. Of course, 4GB is typically considered the bare minimum for modern 1080p (let alone higher) gaming and this is just a budget card which was definitely no

I am not sure what you are arguing for but obviously there are off-chain parts, too. The point is that once Ape Yacht Club or whoever has publicized their address I can always confirm in the future whether an Ape NFT originated from them an

If you have the artist's address you can always check that the NFT originated from them. I don't even understand why anyone (mostly non-crypto people) would think it prevents copy pasting.

The Bored Apes are selling entry to a community not art. At any rate, as far as I can see artists I enjoy in real life like Refik Anadol are benefiting from and creating interesting art around them. Most NFTs are of course crap (as per stur

Seems odd to call it that as there's little 'capitalism' in it. It's abuse of state regulations rather than market forces.

That's not really true. It was a real trend on which Facebook jumped on[0] but yes their involvement overshadowed that. And at any rate clearly the poster here used it in a general sense of a VR Environment rather than meaning Facebook
