That might be how some client(s) work, but I don't think that is how IPFS works. If you access a piece of content over ipfs.io for example, I would think you just make https requests like to every other website.

Yeah, theater is good. But I like other things more. Like watching people in a cafe. Gives you more opportunity to join the action :)

Our exchange here entertains me :) But I wouldn't call Hacker News part of the entertainment industry.

When I watch a movie, I do enjoy it. But there are so much way more interesting and exciting things to do than to watch a movie. So I rarely watch one. Books? Loooooove books. But they are usually about the real world. Science, biographies,

All use cases in the video are games. I think that is the reason why I don't feel anything towards VR headsets. While I am totally into technology, I'm just not interested in games. Actually, I am not interested in entertainment a

As an individual, I want privacy of course. But is privacy really important to mankind? If we look at mankind as an organism, the organism can function better if each part knows what the other part is doing. If the left hand knows what the

This could also be a bookmarklet. That would make it more secure as bookmarklets only have access to the page you use them on. Looking at the code, you can indeed run it as a bookmarklet. I went to https://www.example.com and ty

Can you stay lean without looking emaciated at any age? It seems many people get a belly as they age, but the face still looks normal. Can you prevent this with a diet or will your face look haggard?

IMHO the best way to do authorization if your application otherwise works completely in the frontend: Rent a tiny VM for $5/month and set up a small "enter your email, you'll get a magic link" application you write in Py

I have no insight into car manufacturing. But I have a few decades of insight into software development. And from that I can say that it is actually possible that a whole industry can be insanely inefficient without anybody noticing. So I w

There are more "driving my mercedes" videos on Youtube than "driving my tesla". Just nothing for self driving.

I don't see any Mercedes self driving videos on youtube by regular people. If that tech existed and was in customers hands, Im sure there were many such videos?

What keeps me bullish about Tesla is that when I put "self driving" into YouTube, I see an endless stream of videos made by normal people, filming their own Teslas actually doing self driving. No other manufacturer has gotten ther

What is the legal ground for archive.org to copy websites? Shouldn't copyright forbid that? They don't even respect robots.txt. So content creators can't even opt out of that. Not that copyright would have copyright holders h

Does anybody else here feel puzzled by statements like "Up to 40% better performance"? I read it as: The performance for some tasks is 40% better, but for other tasks might be 90% worse. So is that a good thing or a bad thing? Why

Simpler version of example 1: https://jsfiddle.net/w6nrek81/ No need to bring up multiple examples. We just need one to show that htmx makes something simpler. This isn't one though.

That is what function parameters are for. If you want a parameter "not if already loading", make it part of the post() function. No reason to make it an attribute on the html element.

It's always an interesting question how explicit one wants to get. In this case, I would say the 'outerHTML' parameter is enough to define what will be done with the post result.
