No. There is another interesting issue there, but in this case, it is really smart people thinking that smarts trumps domain expertise (knowledge).

Based on the previous comment, I would call that ethics. Not providing an opinion on something he doesn't know about, especially coming as somebody who could very well be an expert, it something to be lauded, not ridiculed.

I was just looking at Django REST apis last night but didn't find this one. This seems really similar to django-rest-interface, except for the oauth. Anybody know the potential upside/downside to this versus djang-rest-interface?

Like I said: Ride what you like; like what you ride. I can definitely see why some people would like Linux better as a development environment. I can see why some people would like OS X better. Believe it or not, I can even see why some peo

I use Linux at home right now (Ubuntu 8.10) for a mythtv system. I used Ubuntu 7.4 (and others previous) for a couple of years for my desktop environment. I've run Linux since 1993 and administered it since 1994 (trip down memory lane: did

What I find more ironic about that is I use ports a lot, but I've never thought about the source-code and build systems aspect of it.

That's funny, because I've been using Linux since 1993 when I got sick of needing to go to the CS computer labs in college. I've dealt with configuring X more ways than I could possibly count. I've used Linux as my main development desktop

Having a teen-ager of my own who has severe anxiety when it comes to school (so much more than the typical "I hate school."), I can empathize with the "easier said than done." Honestly, I'd look at talking to a counselor and making a plan f

There are probably some reasonable categories in there, but I would say they are more like "algorithmist" (more mathematically inclined), "systems developer" (more hardware oriented), "application developer" (more user experience oriented),

This seems like the real beginning of the end for Omniture. I interviewed with them once and their strategy for defeating Google in analytics was to just move faster. With Google's developer base, that doesn't seem possible.

A far more optimistic view than my initial take. The arguments are well reasoned. I hope it really turns out this way. Opening the JCP would be a VERY good thing and could bring some much needed life back into the Java language.

I disagree that the iPhone is about design first, utility second. I think it is more the case that the iPhone has been well designed for utility. I think part of its success is that its design is amazingly utilitarian. You can really use it
