I would posit that MikroTik is so far not doing this insanity, and price-wise is not far off from NetGear.

A recent discussion covering this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20744590 There may well have been developments and chances, too. But, a start.

A good write-up. Thank you for taking the time and the effort. Complex topic, and l believe, well covered, with a delicate balance struck between very deep details and keeping it accessible. Some thoughts: If possible, adding other TOTP app

Hmm. Not sure that I agree - but we would have to come to a common definition of "quality". I do agree that, fundamentally, every repair is a replacement. But, devil in the details - replace just a crappy capacitor which popped, o

"Repair" - you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means[1] Apple's logistics for the authorized "repair" is geared towards replacement (usually large components like motherboard). 1.

At 1Gb/s and higher link speeds, there really is no such thing as disabling auto-negotiation. What you are setting are the _advertised_ speeds, but auto-negotiation still happens.

Arguably, yes. At a minimum, poor security measures. "Certificate Pinning" and/or HSTS both help, and there are other measures.

Wells Fargo supports RSA tokens. The HW ones. TOTP or similar? Not so much, sadly. https://twofactorauth.org/ is actually quite decent at tracking that sort of stuff

It is sadly amazing that a huge number of people do not have a habit of joining muted as the default state. What is worse, too many video conferencing setups do not have the setting to help with that - mute-on-join.

I disagree with your analogy. Conferences, by their very nature, and ones with large well-known companies sponsoring them strongly implies international guests, and that translates to higher risks.

Curious thing: Living vicariously through images - the regional rail around New York City, known as Metro North Railroad, uses what appears to be pretty thick vinyl on its trains, whereas CalTrans in Southern California uses cloth. Wonder w

(IANAL) This is fairly pedantic, and I do apologize foe this, but it feels inaccurate to state (or to think) that you were able to buy those movies. We don't buy movies. At least in the US, we buy license/right to view. This gets.

As a corollary, I would suggest that the need for "next thing" is more for business reasons than technical ones. The business producing the things cannot stay still. And so... improvements.
