We don't currently compress data but we might at some point. We found that the most significant speed increase is by splitting the data into multiple files. Otherwise it becomes very slow at 10-20GB range. Yes and your 400$ plan is a g

Hi there! Co-founder of Caido ( https://caido.io ) here. Glad to see more competition in the space, we also went the route of using an API (built in Rust). We decided to focus only on a web UI in vue.js I will look how you are sto

Hopefully they will fund Tauri development because our experience is that any moderately complicated application is utter garbage in performances and compatibility on linux. And on top of that you have a lot more testing surface because of

In Canada the debit fee is fixed (I think its around 0.10 to 0.40CAD) per transaction, no percentage. That's why you see a lot of places that only accept cash or debit (and not credit cards). I would be happy as a small SaaS owner and

That is not a settled debate IMO, even Stallman said as much. Sure its not FOSS / FLOSS, but trying to push for a position where open source doesn't mean I can see the code is very much not agreed by everybody. EDIT: See https:&

At the end of the day that is why I decided to not be open for my business. Even if you try to be on the good side its hard and you have the eternal source available vs open source debate. I wish they would develop a license friendly to bot

For the plugin I would add an API to let the developer define user settings. For example look at what Xtra ( https://github.com/crackededed/Xtra ) offers for twitch. The most important is to be able to set a proxy to ret

Their plugin system is interesting, they embedded a V8 engine to run JavaScript to then make some api calls to the various platforms. I am 99% sure this is against each platform ToS and that they will get sued by Twitch, YouTube, etc. Espec

I don't think it would since it blocks ads and thats against the ToS of platforms. I am guessing we are moving to ads embedded in the stream themselves and if the app gets popular enough it will become the norm. Twitch already does tha

This is very exciting! The pace of sqlite development is suprisingly fast for a project that mature. The only real type that I miss from SQLite is a native datetime. Currently each library uses a different parsing strategy and it's a m

Grpc browser support is pretty bad, I still can't wrap my head around the whole grpc-web thing that looks like giant hacks. Openapi is not human readable IMO and the point is you design the API waaaay before you write any line of code.

Citations very much needed for REST. JsonSchema is not human readable. Some RPC yes but their support on web tech is meh (grpc-web for example is a mess). Having written large code bases in graphql I really disagree with this statement. It

What I really like with graphql that IMO all the other spec lack is a nice human readable format. When as a team you design a new API no way I am going to write openapi spec, but I can reason in GraphQL schema. Then each side takes the cont

Landing network segmentation between env should have been done before introducing per user per team pricing.......... I feel like as a PaaS I should not have to explain this.

We use render at Caido. <rant>I am pretty pissed off by their per user per team pricing that was introduced early this year. Specially since you still need to pay for multiple teams to get network segmentation between envs WTF<

It would be very nice to provide bindings to other languages. We use quickjs from rust and it works pretty well, you can provide what you want to the VM so it can run untrusted code.

I get similar a similar vibe about carbon credits than I got with crypto currencies / NFT. I am wondering if the SEC is going to look into them at some point and treat them a unregistered securities fraud.
