I think part of the goal is to have, in the record, a statement that any app that is otherwise legal but requires the user to download cryptographic keys to use is a de facto violation of the DMCA. I think that's why they're se

There have at least been attempts via creative restrictions on already-mandatory arbitration, notably 23andMe after their breach[1] updated their TOS to require a mandatory conference with the company before filing arbitration[2], seemingly

Both likely banned in the TOS. Edit: Looked it up and to Capcom's credit, there's no arbitration requirement in the EULA for MH Rise on Steam.

It also sounds like the RCMP will never take the case to trial (based on the article, they may know that this is actually triangulation fraud) and as such, he'll never have a chance to either defend himself or expunge his record.

To complete the story here, the app doesn't work because dependencies have changed in the meantime, so everything is tracked on multiple giant spreadsheets.

The component that tries to identify that you're accessing it from the right device isn't DRM? I don't think courts would agree with that.

CMG, or Cox Media Group, runs a fair amount of radio and TV stations across the country. It doesn't particularly surprise me that they seemingly didn't think through the legal or PR aspects of this. (Knowing the industry, I susp

Doesn't the law say, at least in the US, that detected CSAM has to go to the government first?

Didn't they try to "solve" this with Security+ 2.0? I'm pretty sure given their current actions that if they could limit RF access from third party openers, they would.

The key there is the attempt. As South Park so memorably pointed out, they don't actually go through with it before arresting you.

Going through the procurement process itself results in massive delays (have you tried bidding on a federal government contract?), a race to the bottom (since the government more or less has to accept the lowest bid), and massive overspec

Wait, but if the copyright holder is sending the actual payload to you as a client, couldn't you make the argument that they implicitly authorized you to have it? AFAIK, cops can't deal you actual drugs and then arrest you for i

TL/M like you're doing (leading a project but also managing people aspects) can work but it's not ideal. If your team grows much beyond where it is now, you should probably decide if you want to be a TL or an eng manager, as

Many major tech companies are simultaneously closing offices and densifying the remaining ones while telling folks they are required to attend. Some of those folks also no longer have dedicated desks. Good times.

Companies are both more solvent and pay quicker than your typical job seeker (who is usually unemployed). Basically, less risk.

That's interesting because for me (Canadian), a few is definitely less than several. I'd expect several to be something like 5-9.

I'm Canadian and my wife is American, and we have absolutely the same disagreement. To me, a couple is exactly two, and to her, it's a synonym for "a few". We compromise by being explicit whenever that word is used.
