This is how the app idea started, actually. When I showed it to some friends and watched them play, there just wasn't enough sense of a game mechanic, I guess. When I showed my dad, who is not the most technical guy, he saw the timer and fe

Thanks for the feedback. That's kind of my goal for tonight. I'm going to keep track of the total number of rounds that each person has guessed correctly, I think. Something along those lines. I think this would maybe prompt people to want

I mean, if you guess all three of the friends in the set, it stops the timer all-together. I will add similar logic to a button, as well.

It does pause if you win the round. I could easily add a pause button, though. You also give me a good idea - I should make the names at the end of the round be links to their profile, too.

I do feel bad for users like the one in the video. I feel bad because I know that my father is going to be that person in the video, too. By the time Windows 8 reaches my father's computer, he'll be in his late 50s. He gets around Windows 7

I would use basically the same set of tools, today. I used IDA to annotate the dis-assembly of various files that I was interested in. I never did like IDA's run-time debugging interface. So, I used OllyDbg for most of my debugging. I like

Haha. Funny enough, when I was a sophomore in college, I applied to Nortel for a C++ job. During my interviews, I told them these stories. It was one of those cases where you feel like you're the object of a show-and-tell, or something. My

I was 14 years old when Galaxies was first announced, two years prior to its release. Like the author of this article, I too was crazy excited about this game when I first heard about it. My friends and I did all the same things that the au

I currently have a 17" MBP. I've been waiting for some sort of announcement about the next generation Macbook Air, but once it's out, I'm going to switch to a Macbook Air. My ideal setup right now would be a Macbook Air with the 27" externa

This looks very applicable to what I'm working on right now. I've built my own naive implementation of a distributed worker queue, using redis as the basic centralized queue. There are many edge cases where redis lpush and rpop will let me

Here's an example of my usual pattern, using express: https://github.com/ryancole/node-simple-upload/tree/master/n... The routes are not namespaced like you'd see with something like Python's Flask does, but it still allows me to group al

To this extent, why not just turn twitter into a torrent tracker? tweet out something like: <torrent id> + <seeder information>. You could then just perform a tweet search for that torrent id, and you'd get all the seeders i

I think the trick here is going to be who you decide to market to. Right now, it looks like the target audience is really small, tech-savvy start ups (most likely those start ups out in San Francisco that the grove.io team can directly mark

I like these types of applications. I think real-time data visualization is neat, especially on kind of a meta level like this. What makes this one different than Radish, though? ( http://radishapp.com/ ) Even the name is similar.

After looking at your CSS, I believe the only issue is that you don't appear to be defining how the newer HTML5 elements should be displayed. It's common to simply put display: block, or inline-block, for all of the HTML5 element that you'r

This is how we were instructed to think about transforms, in school. I'm not sure how common it is, but I also believe that this is how XNA performs transforms. It has been two or more years since I have worked with XNA though.
