In what world do teenagers not just figure out a way to obtain content like this for free on the Internet instead of risking mommy and daddy finding out they watch porn when they check their statement? Like, I get an immediate notification

The Nix language is functionally a Lisp. It just has curly braces for sets/records, and like five keywords (e.g. with, inherit). If you learn a Lisp you'll basically know how to use Nix after reading about the syntactic difference

I wish Nix would just get rid of nix-env. It's not the way it's meant to be used, you should be using "nix run" or nix-shell for temporary usage, and home-manager for dotfiles and user dependencies. Using Nix like an imp

You need to find the Nixpkgs GitHub commit with that specific version – in some cases it won't necessarily be in the binary cache so you have to compile it yourself because otherwise they'd have an insane amount more binaries to h

That's not true, they can still join a staking pool if they want to continue being "paid", so really it's just the way they're being paid that's changing.

The incentive is the exact thing you're worried about: merchants get to avoid fees. If Nano ever takes off as a payment method, then you'd probably see e.g. large grocery chains operating Nano nodes to avoid fees.

When the alternative is simply just using Proof of Stake and lowering the energy consumption by an estimated 99%, yes, we can be judgmental of how others use energy in this specific case. It's not Bitcoin/PoW or no cryptocurrencie

You should consider trying home-manager as the other reply mentioned, because it lets you stay in non-NixOS land until you get comfortable. I use my home-manager config both on NixOS and on Ubuntu to not only to handle stereotypical dotfile

I'm not sure it's fair to say because it hasn't happened in the 17 years of NixOS' lifespan, that it never will, when the last 5 years of NixOS have been the most active by large: https://github.com/NixOS

You can configure NPM to install "global" packages to your user directory, and similarly PIP has `--user`. Usually, the nuclear option to installing something on NixOS that just isn't playing along (e.g. Steam and its games)

If you're like me, and just don't want to shut off Linux to play some games, I'd recommend looking into virtualising Windows and PCI passthroughing your GPU. I just change the channel on my monitor to switch between Linux and

I'd say Scandinavia as a whole. In Norway I had to use my debit card to access public toilets in train stations, with a small fee. I'd be surprised if Denmark wasn't similar to Norway and Sweden.

When dealing with corecursion (infinite streams) you don't care about whether you terminate, but rather, whether the infinite stream is _productive_ meaning it doesn't stop producing values. The prime example of a function that&#x

It's a parallel world. The other package managers are too imperative to deal with in a declarative manner and would just be painful, though there are attempts to do so (outside of Nix). Nix installs everything to /nix.
