This is a great story, definitely made things a little dusty for me. Thanks for sharing. My own experience with him was also special - he was such an amazing kind, generous, and insightful person. And he would easily qualify for my "te

Some of us actually did know him. I did, albeit not as well as others here, and I see no harm and much good in people celebrating his accomplishments in his chosen career.

Love how they write an article about their own company's bankruptcy, complaining about pensioners and discusses getting out from under pension obligations as a purely good thing, and never once mentions the economic impact on those pen

I have a rule of thumb I tell my friends when they ask me questions of the form "X is so lame, why can't GPM just do Y?". The answer, almost always, boils down to laws, regulations, and contracts. This is one of those times.

I worked on GPM prior to the youtube merge, and for a short time after. We did a lot of things: when I first started there it didn't offer streaming subscriptions at all, or radio, or....

As someone who worked on Google Play Music for many years, I'd like to point out that a lot of the UX criticisms here are really just personal preferences, and those preferences are based in very large part on the way you listen to mus

Its not just BofA - Amex does a great job of classifying your transactions and giving you monthly and yearly reports on your spending. Other banks with "premium" credit cards do similar things.

An interesting article, which I think accurately describes my brief time at Microsoft during the Ballmer era (our startup was acquired after the bubble burst). But his definition of "made men" seems very vague and very convenient.

Numbers is actually the best spreadsheet for stuff where presentation matters. For example, me and my friends use it for our D&D (and invisible sun) character sheets - the formula language is powerful enough to do what we need, and its

Thanks for the idea. But given my experience I've kinda soured on Porsche, plus parts are so damn expensive. My plan is to take part of the settlement and get/make a track-prepped miata. Edit: But of course if someone feels so sor

I've owned many, many BMWs over the past twenty years. I spent way more time and energy fixing quality issues on those BMWs in their first year than I have on my Tesla. The Porsche Boxster I bought in 2015 was much better than the BMWs

There are good reasons why those early Leafs are so cheap. Namely battery packs that lose effectiveness very quickly due to lack of cooling. Stay away.
