The use case of Matrix is more to do with the client than the protocol. For example FluffyChat ( https://fluffychat.im/ ) is an up and coming client that is designed exactly the compete in the market of the other phone messen

Signal is opensource-ish. The fact you can't compile the code and federate with the main Signal network means having some version of source online is mostly meaningless. They proved this when they developed the crypto functionality beh

That is a way but its obviously not encouraged or it'd be a built in feature. Sending yourself a message with a custom URL isn't exactly amazing UX.

It's garbage normally switching tenancies; but, what really kills it is the fact you can't even access your other tenancies when you are in a meeting.

No, it is pure logic. I moved my presence off of Google services because of privacy concerns. I am not being an apologist at all. The point is that if you are hosting your data on Google services this setting makes little difference to your

It's search history in Workspace, which is data Google already has associated with you and your organization. The difference between retention of Workspace and general Google search history is huge. If you are worried about your search

Yeah, lots of people can't afford/don't have the space for multiple vehicles because their one vehicle no longer does everything they need. I find it such a dumb argument. A plug in hybrid which is primarily an EV is a much b

Yep, site:reddit.com provides consistently better results than a plain search for reviews. An undomained search ends up with an endless list of sponsored/generic "top 10" sites which if you know anything about the products ar

I'd argue it's probably exactly because it is upside down while charging that it shuts off. It stops you getting annoying flashes of sensor light while it is desperately trying to find a surface.

Using a binary calculator is like using a scrabble solver for wordle. Of course it ruins the fun. The game shouldn't show you the binary values from your number though, just the correct/incorrect state, so you need to apply the me

Messengers are one of the few things that I would appreciate less diversity. They are a means to communicate with people and if I can't reach the people I need to communicate with then they are not useful. I would like to see more comp

Podcasts are generally accessed as a syndication service. Except for ones actually contracted by Spotify, like Joe Rogan, they are just importing them from RSS like everyone else.

Yup, the URL should be changed. US only websites are alienating huge amounts of HN readership.

Thanks for saying this. This was exactly my take. Saying goodbye to VPNs just completely ignores the risk of RCE vulnerabilities on your services. You can have a VPN that still brings you into a zero trust network.

Your second point was what I was primarily thinking. If brainstorming highlights your cultural problems then maybe its time to fix your cultural problems rather than cover it up with less group work.

Ultimately most people don't need the rapid pace of new chips. The pixel 3 level is sufficient for the foreseeable future. There isnt a binary innovation or support. Just as we have LTS branches of software we should have LTS firmware

That's kind of the killer for laptop usage. Even if there was support for just the most popular broadcom chip or something that would be workable; but, as it is it's unusable on a modern laptop. Linux had had this part sorted for

Gave this a shot in guest mode. It sounds promising in theory and I agree that linking the Q/A cards to more detailed notes and tree structure is useful but in implementation it felt very clunky and I did not gel with the UI at all. Th

Wow, way to remove your product from consideration ever again. Security breaches happen - fix up the issues and show people your reform. Blaming the intern just makes you look like an ass whos company I never want to do business with again.

I haven't really understood the recent move to making multi tweet posts. The character limit was put in place for a reason - to make short and sweet content. Trying to jam your essay into a chain of tweets just doesn't make sense.
