The webrtc-rs team has been doing an amazing job. I have been experimenting with using it on mobile. We have a audio+video build that is only 1.7Mb, totally not possible with other stacks.

Sorry I missed your comment yesterday! So many things got called out in the PR that I completely forgot about HN :/ You should re-post it in this thread! I really want people not familiar with see what is possible. Agree on renaming fr

DDRBoxMan wrote the original PR, a member of the OBS community. The choice of Rust wasn't taken lightly and I think it was the right decision. A few people outside the OBS community (me being one of them) wanted to help finish the PR.

Big fan of FTL also, it is a shame that it was orphaned. In a world where Mixer lives on I could see FTL being a lot more places. ftl-sdk was nice to work with since it was just a single C library, and only concerned itself with streaming c

It’s a shame :/ I am a big fan of WebRTC. The conflation of WebRTC and Google’s implementation hurts a lot. Really excited to see how much webrtc-rs has progressed. The next 3 years are gonna be really interesting

This is a Google problem, not WebRTC. I have been using webrtc.rs on iOS. My build is ~2Mb and takes me ~3 min to build.

Thank you so much PaulBGD! It means a lot that you have been consistently happy with Pion. We got super lucky that a company heavily depended on SCTP in the early days. One of their devs (enobufs) did an amazing job with it.

I am a big fan of https://github.com/shinyoshiaki/werift-webrtc it is pure Typescript. Will be easier to debug/deploy. Lots of other great WebRTC implementations also exist. Check out https://github.com

WebRTC is encrypted and authenticated. No concerns about that! Another nice thing about WebRTC is that it uses DTLS. You can’t block web torrents because that would also block conferencing software and corporate VPNs (Cisco)

I think it is a great idea! Sharing files is something people still struggle with. WebRTC's NAT Traversal also could help people connect without fiddling with network settings. A few projects exist to share files with WebRTC, but I don

I am really excited by the pub/sub primitives. WebRTC has really been limited by conferencing APIs. Great for people building conference calls, but WebRTC can do so much more. With WebRTC coming out of OBS (and more soon) thanks to WHI

I see a lot of WebRTC usage just in the LAN. WebRTC sees a lot of usage outside of conferencing! * Controlling Robots (formant.io) * Security Cameras * File Sharing * Game Streaming/VNC I keep a list of interesting open source WebRTC p

I liked that idea also. The concern was dialog fatigue. If a web site prompts permission to ‘gather local candidates’ most users are just going to hit OK. So this wouldn’t stop abusive uses of WebRTC as hoped.
