Awesome. I thought "this is exactly the kind of thing my former colleagues would find hilarious". Then I scrolled down. They wrote it.

tl;dr - 5 of the top 10 are big technology companies. #1 = Google, #2 = Apple, #5 = Microsoft, #6 = Facebook, #7 = Amazon. Of the rest, ~40% are what HN readers would consider technology companies. There's some further infographics hid

I have very little idea what this article is trying to say. I can't even decipher whether it is pro-Oculus or against it.

Did I miss something? Is there no way to get any of these components' broadcast channels to GET/POST to an API? Or their input channels to accept an HTTP input? I couldn't see this on the roadmap and it seems like such a no b

So take your 20 man project - all of it - and give the entirety to the Ph.D. In fact, since you'll be saving so much money, get three Ph.D.s to work on it simultaneously and independently. In fact, tell them it's first to publish

Maybe I'm missing something, but if I were Microsoft, I think (at least my first pass thinking anyway) I'd just say "Nope. No MS Word on iOS. Ever." I can't see what's in it for them. A tiny slice of cash compa

In this case, the person can't use a computer because people like the author condescend a bit, fix the problem in ten seconds, and don't set them up to be just a bit wiser for next time. When I try to teach people how to f

One key to thinking about how the Plan [improves quality of life] is the universality of the grant. What matters is not just that a lone individual has $10,000 a year, but that everyone has $10,000 a year and everyone knows th
