Oh, no, I don't feel oppressed. I am pointing out the ironic nature of a museum, and a general culture, that has the mindset of trying to "account" for past racism with treating one race differently to another, far since the

Thing is though, "polish" and "irish" correspond to, clearly, the country's history only. "Black" refers to literally anything about black people, which is a totally different idea.

But, do you think that black people really still suffer from such "post-racist-society" effects nowadays, like in your hypothetical country? I doubt.

Okay, so what about a "White History Museum" in Africa? Or China? Or Brazil? That is definitely perceived differently, and also it's content would not represent the "normal" history of the parent location.

Okay, still doesn't really explain how a "museum about the history of white people" doesn't exist, and is perceived differently.

Well, yes, because those countries / continents are historically white. Just like an African museum would be "black people", since Africa is historically black. And, okay, to really shut this one down, what would you say to a

Really? Wow. Well, still, I do see examples of things called "Black X thing", so the point still holds, just not in this case. Talk about a misleading article. HN these days :/

But read my reply further. I'm okay and I'm sure most are with an "African Museum", or something like that. That museum would be dominated by POC, just like an "American History Museum" would be dominated by Wh

Bad article written badly. Firstly, concrete isn't a weapon, it is a defensive utility, not an offensive one (weapon). Correcting that, the best defense is people. More specifically, "civilians". You can now easily defend you

Thank you. Spot on. I've found that most seniors have gained their place because they made sure nobody could become better than them. How seniors usually do this is by restricting training, keeping knowledge of things they designed t

Surprised you didn't try C++ if you found C quite difficult. C++ teaches memory management but without the insanity level dialed to 11 like with C (or more so with Assembly). I've always discouraged learning Python first. Python d

Since it's seniors who hire, i'de say it's pretty important whether they value it or not. And a lot don't, especially for networking since CS has almost no networking in it (by the 2nd year most undergrads still have d

I've got the same sentiment about Node and PHP. Both are just an eyesore for everybody but the person who wrote it. Heck, even the very experienced JS/Node developer who works at my place says that they sucks in teams, and I total

Sorry to be off topic here, firstly. Current intern at a tech company here. Glad to see Angular there, I've just started delving into AngularJS 2. Could I ask which Angular version you are on? Considering migrating to 2? ng2 looks pret

This is what happens when you allow uncontrolled and unregulated asset transfers. There's a reason that pretty much any index/stock in the world freezes when the daily drop exceeds a certain threshold (i.e. Japan, JPX, has a limit

I agree with other posts. It's the increasing prevalence of short-termism. Most companies in the world now are going through a big consolidation process on a scale unheard of in the past, in preparation for when things go very bad in t

Isn't that the line with the Core M chips? They were a travesty for Windows 10. ~1000p on Passmark lol. Compare to an i7 6500U CPU, which has ~4500. TBH, 4K laptop screens are a total scam.

Not sure if this is anecdotal or not, but the Dell business-laptop lines (Lattitude et al) have been having hard-drive corruption problems at the company where I work for ages. As for Razer, I hear their products are excellent (laptop wise)

True. Apple makes a disgustingly large margin on each, so I suppose less volume doesn't neccessarily mean less revenue. Having said that, decreasing volume, something which is now never-ending for Apple in the last few quarters, conse

To be fair, Apple's last 3-4 Quarters have been huge consecutive disappointments, and this line up was their last chance to turn that around I believe. And they've clearly failed. Who will pay $1,500 on a laptop that has second-gr
