Yes. This phenomenon happens all the time. Panics are human nature.

>The takeaway is that we’re more likely to perceive exercise positively and actually do it when we focus on our well-being rather than our weight. I agree this is the right framing. As a formerly obese person I think obese people typical

Building something interesting without being too worried about licensing and copyright is a positive signal in my mind. You can clutch your pearls all you like but this is just the digital version of what humans have been doing forever. If

The older I get the more I believe some version of this. It's related to empathy somehow. I think we're inherently self-centered, but that we also recognize ourselves within others, and don't desire suffering for ourselves, h

Not being able to figure out a tip does annoy me a bit, because when you know how 10% works then you've got all you need, just halve it and add it back on and you've got your minimum 15%, or double it for 20%. It's not like t

This I highly doubt. Especially when it comes to solar, for which there are many reasons to adopt apart from environmental concerns.

I understand your sentiment but your examples still sound like a lot of energy. If every home ran a server rack for two days a month, or produced 30kg of aluminum, that would obviously add up extremely quickly.

I can consume 3k a day eating clean, but no more. Eating all that in one meal would require some extremely unhealthy eating, for me. I know sumo wrestlers and other extreme athletes are capable though.

If computers are better at writing novels than humans then what you gain is access to better novels. I enjoy reading novels, and I wouldn't refuse to read an excellent one because a computer wrote it.

That's rough. 3k-5k calorie meal? That's an entire day's worth of calories, for someone really active. Strange your body didn't adapt.

What's left for us is whatever we want to do. People still do all kinds of things which machines and computers can do better than we can. No reason to think that will change.

Is there any advancement people won't decry? Defeating aging would be the most significant achievement in human history. But sure, let's worry about centuries old overpopulation concerns instead, despite having demonstrated them f

That didn't happen. It was proposed and rejected by Congress. The FAA's budget was not "significantly decreased" as the comment above claimed.

Serious question: At what point does the failure of government services warrant the partial withholding of taxes? This isn't sufficient of course but when the FAA repeatedly demonstrates incompetence, when do we eventually just tell th

I was playing in our company chess tournament one year and played en passant against an opponent who entered but didn't play much chess. I swear he thought I was cheating. I had to explain the term and have him Google it.

Very understandable how this developed in the era of over the board play. You can't have two queens when they don't physically exist! I always use an upside down rook, somehow there's always one available by then.
