This does seem like a weird shift on Apples part. They even featured the app in “app stories” at one point in time. I’m a user of this app and found it when I couldn’t find caffeine which I used on an older MacBook. As an aside I’ve noticed

I think the review system is good for generalities as long as you toss out the hyperbole. Very few products are hyperbolically good. Once you weed that out you can find trends so long as the company is not engaging in fraud or other decepti

Totally get that. And don’t claim to know. However the article didn’t help me learn anything about it either which was part of my point. The title was impact of apple silicon on Broadway and I’m still speculating... The only mention was big

Agreed. I outlined my thoughts in a more detailed post but I dont see how M1 changes the game for anyone using Orchestral libraries. SSDs and disk streaming large sample sets multihundred note polyphony has been a thing for 20 years.

Thats kinda the point I was making. Hints of large sample libraries which omnisphere is a sort of hybrid sample library and synth. It’s also a large library but it’s not the same as huge multi sample libraries that the article mentions.

Article is pretty light on detail and a bit hand wavy. I’m not sure why M1 is any better at disk streaming samples than x86 based Mac minis either. In fact with a 16 Gb ram limit you can’t put more of those sample libraries in ram. Disk str

I generally feel that Big Sur is much more cohesive and consistent in daily use vs Catalina and generally easier on the eyes. There are some UI missteps but I like it.

I had a pretty popular take last week on Elon Musk leaving. The same station is now pushing this narrative. I think they are click baiting us all. HP is not SV. Oracle isnt SV. They arent major players. Maybe there is a larger trend that ma

Go to a stable. Horses urinate and defecate at will. They dont normally shower or brush their teeth. There is a smell, but its not punch you in the face bad. Humans can smell really bad on all fronts, but noseblindness is a thing and probab

I drink black nitro cold brew every morning. I think it’s semi palatable. I don’t love the flavor but it’s not terrible. I also don’t feel awake until I drink one. I am definitely drinking something every morning that I don’t love. I would

Some great additions this time around: OBXa, Juno 6/60/106, Emu Emulator II, and Moog Vocoder emulations. Really excited by the vocoder as it is patchable per filter band which is unique as far as I am aware...

I think you're right. And while I generally find Elons Twitter antics amusing to sometimes headscratching I think he is right about the dealership model. EVs in my totally nonscientific off the head mental model probably require 35-50%

So the headline is written in a way that I read it as car dealers are being obstinate and not wanting to sell electric cars. Secondly, the deal as I understand it is very similar to one proposed by Johan de Nysschen a few years back just to

The cynic in me thinks the 'price in writing' price match is so that the price matching retailer can report retailers who dont abide by MAP. I dont disagree, but it leads to scenarios like the above where arbitrage exists. I can b

I think you are highlighting the main issue- either these companies like Shimano are subsidizing artificially low prices abroad with US MAP/wholesale prices or they are behaving in a dealer hostile manner. The net result is US brick an

Minimum Advertised Price. While it is possible in some cases to negotiate with a store, most of the time they ask you to get a price in writing that is lower so that they can match it. A few problems with that- 1) MAP is the minimum Adverti

To point 1- some native Mac apps are not Big Sur compatible yet. It could be 2 separate issues. I held off from upgrading to Big Sur on my audio/daw iMac Pro for this reason. 2- claim seems slightly dubious as it depends on the app. So
