You can at least get 90% of the same experience with modern x86 laptops. Just exclude anything that has a dedicated GPU.

They still exist separately today because the modding scene is completely different for them. Minecraft Java is the original and has a huge modding community based on decompiling and patching the game. Those mods are all incompatible with B

Even Unity games compile AOT via IL2CPP. It's optional on PC/macOS but required for most other platforms. The only real reason games may not build with it enabled is if they want to allow modding via IL decompilation.

I wouldn't really classify C# as a scripting language even if some of those engines say it is. The main criteria (IMO) of a scripting language is to be easily embeddable and C# is not.

I don't really see why the UI is despised. Windows 8 was bad, 10 brought sanity mostly back, and 11 is in a good state now IMO.

I wouldn't fully blame Bluetooth. Part of the problem with streaming audio is how you tolerate lag. Playback requires a constant sample rate of audio but your network is not guaranteed to deliver data at a constant rate. Designs need t

I am not suggesting that Geekbench is intentionally favoring Apple Silicon. The code the benchmark runs just happens to run better on Apple Silicon. And Geekbench also poorly scales with higher core counts so multicore scores are almost use

Geekbench is biased towards Apple Silicon for whatever reason. Take a look at any other benchmarks, preferably ones that test real world workloads.

The bandwidth difference likely doesn't make a difference though. Benchmarks of Apple Silicon show that the compute bottlenecks far before running out of bandwidth, even when fully loading all CPU cores, the GPU, etc.

You actually can use it for embedded and kernel development! See .NET Nano Framework [1] for embedded - works on microcontrollers like ESP32. For kernel development there's nothing really built in to support it but people have built to

Everything collects analytics these days. However, VS Code let's you opt out of telemetry and I doubt it slows down builds like Xcode is doing.

It's 2025 and most apps do not match the OS they run on. What would you even want apps to match on Windows? There are different styles depending on what you build with (Win32/Forms, WPF, UWP, etc).

The UK government is not a dictatorship. Bad policies like this should be pushed back against by both corporations and individuals or things will get worse. Easier said than done, I know, but Apple instantly rolling over is not a good sign

Removing ADP for customers in the UK should damage Apple's brand worldwide. Why should you trust that Apple won't remove ADP for others in the future?

Yes it is. The C# side of it is growing and that is easy enough to decompile though, if you're just curious. That's custom to S&box though and not a part of Source 2.

What older architecture? Windows has been on x86 for decades. You should be able to run any 32-bit application built 20+ years ago on modern Windows, assuming the application didn't rely on undocumented/internal Windows APIs.
