That was true for the Skylake XPS machines. The new Kaby Lake machines, sold with either Windows or Ubuntu, all use the "Killer" Qualcomm Atheros chip. There's also more configurations to pick from with Windows, so it's

Sometimes when I use XQuartz and Inkscape or some other X11 app on Mac, it will freeze such that you can't switch apps or use the Apple menu. Option-Command-Esc used to work... In the video linked above the Apple menu also didn't

If you're used to the Mac's "force app to quit" Command-Option-Esc shortcut, it won't work from the touchbar if the app is unresponsive: https://twitter.com/technosucks/status/8008314826084

The recent WebStorm 2016.3 is really great as well: Flow support, convert to ES6 quick actions, React Native, debug Node apps inside Docker containers, ESLint quick fixes, etc. If your editor doesn't offer basic productivity accelerato

I don't think the toolbar actions work as one would usually expect. That is, hit Bold, type, text should be bold but isn't. The tools only seem to apply if there's already a selection, but that's not how vanilla Draft or

9.5 was actually added to RDS back in April [0]. There was some serious bugs found that made them wait for 9.5.2 before adding it [1]. As a customer of RDS, I'm really happy that they're taking their time to thoroughly test the re

Demo accounts are OK, but what you really want to do is avoid the empty account syndrome after signup altogether. The user is all excited to check out your product, but is intimidated by the blank slate state. Instead, the first thing the u

A PEO like TriNet can typically manage it all for you (for $$$ though). I personally prefer to pick each service provider separately. For example, a payroll processor like Gusto will handle all the onboarding forms (W-4, I-9, W-2, state new

Interesting tidbit in the announcement: Data between the US-East-1 and US-East-2 regions is priced at the lower inter-AZ rate ($0.01 per GB, or half price). That's pretty great if you're looking to add a layer of regional redundan

You can find a PPA (apt repository) for almost any app or tool these days. I find that just adding a few of these for specific cases to a LTS release gives you the best of both worlds. My current ones: git, Google chrome, flux, node, nylas,

I've been very happy with the material-ui components for React. They cover every component I need, and it was trivial to integrate them into an existing app over time, no need to do a full conversion on day one. They also seem entirely
