I don't fully understand why Epic bought Bandcamp in the first place. I don't see where they add value, and it doesn't fit smoothly into the rest of their portfolio.

I don't think this is a result of inequality. I think it's a complex mixture of local policies, culture, large scale criminal groups seeking profits, etc. Inequality is certainly a factor! But ultimately, large criminal organizati

I agree. 10,000 years ago it would have been difficult for majors trends to spread across different continents. And I have a guess (though unsupported) that every civilization's mythology would tell similar stories of this event if it

Personally, I wouldn't pay more money for an autonomous ride than a regular one. I will go with whatever's cheapest. So to hear that Waymo was more expensive is disappointing.

What a bad take. You'd rather have a monopoly than a duopoly? Epic hasn't done anything particularly bad for PC gaming, and while I love Valve's contributions to Linux gaming, I don't think Steam is nearly as great as mo

We can be skeptical of a truck mechanic's opinions on quantum physics, and we can be skeptical of a physicist's opinions as well. But certainly the physicist deserves less skepticism, because they have expert knowledge on the subj

I think these criticisms are valid (at least for Cython 2) and they are well explained. But I don't see this article mention the main benefit of Cython from my experience, which is the speed increase you can get from Pythonic code anno

To be skeptical is a good trait. But in this case, I trust that this exec, who has intimate knowledge of the program and the challenges it faced over its whole lifespan, knows broadly what went wrong. As discussed in the document, they did

Thanks for posting this. As a beginner, do I need to already know what "sequent-calculus-style trees" are for this to be useful? I didn't see any broad explanation of what the tree structure means here. I can see that disjunc

It's great that their advertised performance is competitive, but I don't see any mention of price on this website, and I wasn't able to easily find any prices in their "Acess/Buy" page either. So until I hear o

I think you're painting them with too broad of a brush. The documents here discuss exactly what the main problems were, so there's no need for us to speculate that a poor name or a lack of partnership from other platforms were big

The sale price discussed in this email is $10-30 billion. That seems like a very good price to me considering ByteDance's yearly revenue of $80 billion. Of course most of that revenue isn't from the USA, and we can only guess as t

It's really misleading to describe any of the fake focal lengths as "prime lenses". All of the iPhones lenses are technically prime lenses, but the new focal lengths are just digital zoom with some extra post processing.

Love the part about circular references. I gotta say though - I'm having a difficult time imagining how complex these fomulas are that reimplementing Excel's formula engine is easier than just porting the formulas into JS.

It's close enough. You can use the engine to make whatever games you want, modify the code, rebuild it, etc and profit from the game you create. You're not allowed to fork and then profit from the engine itself, or the editor. Tha

I do see some entries like you're describing on Alibaba for bulk orders, but is there anything for consumers buying a single gem in this price range? I couldn't find anything on other websites that's as cheap.

The new design no longer has a stalk for the turn signal (like most cars), instead getting some capacitive touch buttons. I think that's a big downside here.
