Client Assertion is an OAuth feature, but that is not at all what is being discussed here, if anyone else was confused. It is only present in the HN title and is not mentioned on the page.

I'm familiar with the concept. A digital signature signs a message. What message are you signing?

GrapheneOS may be de-googled but it is not de-blobbed, they rely on the vendor to maintain certain drivers etc. Hopefully the driver maintenance team is very separate from the bloatware installation team, but someone could reasonably worry

I recently got a Samsung A07 to run some tests on. It's stunningly cheap at <£100, and will supposedly get 5 years of software/security updates. After setting it up, I was surprised (but also not surprised) to see ads on the lo

It's much more obvious when you look at the user's comment history. Curiously my comment above was on +3 karma last time I looked, but now it's on -2. It seems like the median HN user is getting worse at slop detection (or is

Did you use an LLM to write this comment? (I don't mean this as an accusation, I'm uncertain. I'm just trying to calibrate myself.) Edit: I should've had more conviction in my instincts, this is slop.

Looks like the default allocator uses mmap(2) for every single allocation , which is horribly inefficient - you map a whole PAGE_SIZE worth of memory for every tiny string. Aside from just wasting memory this will make the TLB very unhappy
