Google will track your IP and probably store the searches you made alongside it. These can easily be linked back to your google accounts. Duckduckgo claim not to log your searches.

Sounds like a hardware issue. The only time I've ever seen OSX kernel panic is with bad hardware. Get that sucker replaced.

No other language has this problem. The locale is irrelevant. The class name is just a series of bytes; it shouldn't need to transform the case.
