True - it shares some features, but different VM etc.

Which Java? Which JVM? Which libraries, etc.? JDK 8 bears little resemblance to JDK 2. The latest JVM bears little resemblance to the first ones. Java is old. It is a huge ecosystem with lots of warts and cruft. There is a lot of good stuff

FWIW - Maven's shade plugin makes self-executing jars very easy.

Doesn't sbt still use Ivy under the covers? I know Gradle used to but maybe not anymore. In any event, Ant is still an active project and Ivy is it's dep system.

Damn - I'm speechless. What the heck is going on in Cupertino? The Airport Extreme is THE best wireless router you can buy. Also, it has the integrated Time Capsule which is incredible

The tone and sarcasm of this video aside, the guy makes strong arguments that the Hyperloop cannot work technically. Worth watching as he makes good arguments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNFesa01llk edit: actually it c

Running multiple vagrant VMs, an IDE, Scala sbt, etc. - all at once.

Sure - but I (and most devs I know) don't care. Let us have the option, Apple.

The 16GB limit is the real issue for me personally. There are plenty of Windows/Unix laptops that can do 32GB or more so all the excuses I've been hearing are ludicrous.

I was totally prepared to buy one of these new MBPs and now I likely won't. Spec wise these are not much better than last year's model. Frankly I don't care too much about the ribbon-bar thing. What I really needed, as a deve

Only 16GB!!!! No!!!!!! That stinks.

How can you improve on perfection? I'm dubious. I've had mine for over 15 years and will never part with it. I had it refurbished 3 years ago and it's still great. It made a huge difference in my life. I had back problems and

I just hope we get 32G of RAM on the MBP. It's desperately needed.

That was her side of the story. Reddit had a different side. This line shows what an awful article this is. Utterly un-objective. Here's some reference on Ellen Pao: * http://www.vanityfair.com/style/scandal/2

I've never seen so much question begging in my life. Maybe, just maybe, Thiel doesn't believe the charges against Trump. Additionally, the hypocrisy is appalling. People gladly write checks to Hillary Clinton who over the past 30+

More appropriately, don't implement these incredibly difficult protocols yourself - unless it's an exercise. Use one of the well maintained, widely used implementations.

This is great. The Digital Nomad future is upon us. I've been doing it for 3 years and it's wonderful. Live where you want. Get out of the Silicon Valley rat race.

That doesn't make sense. A web browser is just a TCP connection after all. If the port isn't open on the server there's no way to connect to it.

It worked for me. I'm a true digital nomad. I moved out of the US and work whatever hours I want totally remotely. I firmly believe this is the future. Maybe it's taking longer than anticipated but it _is_ happening more and more.

Axioms are not arbitrary - they simply are. An axiom is a recognition of the nature of reality.

What's the worst condition (if you don't mind saying) you've had where you had to use the Canadian system? Generally, socialized medicine works fine for routine care but badly for catastrophic (i.e. expensive) care.
