Chrome embeds a small LLM (never stops being a funny thing) in the browser allowing them to do local translations. I assume every browser will do the same as on-device models start becoming more useful.

Does it even matter if they have Oakley or any other logo on them? Aren't they all luxotica anyway?

No punish people buying multiple properties as "investments". Tax the purchase not the construction.

There is. Progressive taxation. Your first purchase is tax free. Second is a percentage and the more you accumulate the higher the percentage.

so the encryption is pretty much hardcoded making it more like an "obfuscation" ?

You just triggered some PTSD... years ago I had to send my CTO a recording of my screen with keyboard input lag on VSCode because CrowdStrike was eating up all my CPU. I asked him if it was a good use of my (expensive) time to wait 30 secon

I live in France and use Deliveroo (or UberEats some rare times) maybe once a month. There is already a tipping UI in the app, but it is not intrusive, nothing as aggressive as what you'd experience in the US where you're inclined

Yeah that won't work for me, here are some missing features: - I want a button to make it a little colder for a period of 30-45 minutes - I want a toggle to alternate for days where I WFH - I want a 3rd time range: noon to 2PM

It is inevitable for DoorDash to make tipping an even more annoying and intrusive part of Deliveroo. I can't wait to see how europeen users react to that.

I doubt the system is that simple. No one wrote a rule saying `if url.contains("camel") then block()` it's probably an unintended side-effect

you’re still encrypting n-times, the post needs to be stored n-times and that’s even before thinking about key rotation and server portability this is not practical

HN is archived by tens of 3rd party DBs (for better or worse) so requesting a full deletion is a step but it won’t scrub everything

that sounds like a UX nightmare, what happens when you approve a new follower? do you encrypt your entire post history for them? how long would that take ?

in my opinion the actual solution is mastodon should stop pretending that private accounts are a thing when it is just UI fairy dust

wait so if you have 10k followers you’re proposing to encrypt every post 10k times? (we’re talking about posts not DMs)

> the release dropped. While the version increment (v0.12.4 to v0.12.5) implies a minor update, it’s a huge leap. We’re totalling more than 450 commits, including the requirement of a new version of PHP yeah this is not a great way of do

I was in school (2011-2016) and almost all professors had a wiki or moodle where we could find all their slides and documents. I noticed that the rare few professors who didn't upload their powerpoints, were mostly the ones who would j
