À really good read explaining why, how and the economics of running such a platform. No surprise, the people behind YGG were snooping on their users and secretly keeping copy of payment info (amongst other shady stuff)

There is no reason for this increase except the fact that they know people are too lazy to migrate away. Most of the listed features don't make any sense as core value propositions (wtf is AI-powered item naming)

Exactly, why did they end up in a situation where they are making killers of their "main" phones ?

As an early OnePlus user (1, 3, 5, 7, 13) i find myself unimpressed with what Nothing is proposing, feels more like a design exercise than a flagship killer

this is the remains of the moral outrage that was online and in the media a few years ago when ozympic was first mediatised

It is for sure expensive (~300€ / month) but from my understanding nothing like the prices you see in the US (+2'000 $)

that's actually not true, Mounjaro and Wegovy are pretty much meant for weight loss and there is no competition over them for people with diabetes

in europe there is a social stigma around GLP-1 drugs, a lot of people considered it cheating and lazy, so a lot of people don't dare talk about their usage

My favorite C15 story is with my childhood friend who got it as a hand-me-down first car, we used to put plastic lawn chairs in the back and head to the beach... The gas meter was broken, so my friend had to guesstimate when he needed a ref

Wasn't popcorn-time basically video streaming backed by torrent ? Why can't it be the same for audio ? The metadata is 200 GB which can be easily indexed and could be made searchable, then you download only what you need

by Raed667 10mo ago
I'm hoping that this metadata leak can revive projects like https://everynoise.com Spotify (and netflix etc..) have become very hostile to exposing their catalogue over API, so i'm glad they've gotten open sourced

I just wanted an API client with some basic features: - history - grouping/folders - some very basic api key management Is that too much to ask or does every company need to indefinitely grow?

I have seen these discussions in companies where privacy is the selling point. These kind of questions usually come from non-engineers, people in product or sales who see privacy as a feature or marketing point, and if the ROI is higher the

I'm not minimizing the amount of effort it takes to curate links, but does a mailing list need to constantly grow for it to be viable ? What does it mean to "operate at a loss" in this case ?
