I like paper and notebooks the best, but I'm using OneNote for work. OneNote is one of those annoying but "good enough" software products that I don't really like, but I'm using it because it's free.

Thank you, that's a good piece of advice that I remember hearing as well.

I learned a similar but more cautious method in a jungle survival school: Step 1: Touch the plant with your hand, wait 1 hour for negative effects to develop. Step 2: If step 1 produces no negative effect, touch the plant to more sensitive

This is anecdotal. It seems to me that there's a time for the door to be open and a time for the door to be closed. Having the option to either at the appropriate time makes a huge difference.

I've spent a lot of time in Utah and I know people who have been cut off from family because they choose to leave the church.

So, we should just stick with the status quo, be serfs and dig ditches?

I just started with Pelican and I'm really liking it. I think I've tried most of the static site generators out there.

Being busy and also being depressed, not finding the motivation to do what I know is good for me.

I don't feel that a $1 gift is an insult if the gift is thoughtful or unexpected. Isn't it the "thought that counts", rather than the value of the gift?

I'm motivated by the pursuit of things that interest me because I perceive them to be worth knowing. Unfortunately, crippling depression and a looming feeling of nihilism are sucking most of my motivation away.

The $5 droplet doesn't have enough resources to install Wordpress, last time I checked. Ghost works on the $5 droplet though, that's what I'm using. I like Ghost better anyway.

I never thought that I'd like a Microsoft product again, but VSCode is really neat and has become my editor of choice.

It's really cool that you do that. I hate when hardware ends up in a landfill, when somebody can use it.

I'm in the same boat. Every computer I build is on a shoestring budget, re-using old components, etc. AMD has been a lifesaver. They provide acceptable performance at a price I can afford.

Some of the best programmers I know are also musicians. I think you carry some assumptions that should be challenged.

I think that you should not necessarily take the next offer that comes your way, but you should change your criteria for accepting an offer. You've got to start somewhere, and it's ok for your first job to be relatively "unin

Recruiters literally don't care about this at all, the only thing they care about is making their numbers. Here's a story: recruiters in our command who failed to get any recruits in a given period were stood in front of the group

I worked recruiting in the military. I've also done sales outside of the military. Recruiting is basically just high pressure sales. Many recruiters are facing nearly impossible numbers and will do just about anything to get a candidat

He's in Western Washington, but not too close to Seattle. To him it's "in the country" but it's right next to town. I live in a rural place, "in the country" means something entirely different to me.

My uncle lives in an area where a new house must be on a minimum sized lot of 1 acre. A nearby area requires 5 acres for a new house! I'd never heard of those kinds of restrictions before.

I am skeptical. I don't take it as fact. I did find it interesting that the INTP profiles I read described me with painful accuracy, which is why I've begun exploring this stuff a little more. Still, it's good advice to take

I like the social engineering aspect. In that regard, the show is interesting. They make hacking much more about human security than software and hardware. And when you think about things that way, the world is a scary place.

Thanks for posting the link. I recently discovered what an INTP is and that I am one. I don't believe that I have a mental disorder but I definitely struggle with severe depression and mood swings, I'm trying to figure myself out.
