I used to be one of the weirdos collecting waste oil to burn in my VW. That was pretty cool but obviously not everyone can do that.

What do you mean by "package-completeness"? While npm has a lot of packages, Python has a lot of fully matured, well-tested and well-documented packages. It's apparent to me that there are a lot of low quality, duplicate and

There are several Christian groups that do this. They deliver missionaries into isolated areas but they also bring supplies, doctors, etc. I know some people who are involved and it's pretty cool.

Carpentry is fun and it's surprising how similar a mindset to software development is required. Lots of planning and precision and interesting challenges to be found.

Come on, giving educational tours to children isn't anywhere near as rigorous as being a software developer. What point are you trying to make?

I'm an artist and a musician, and if I could do anything as a career, It would be in the arts. Unfortunately, it's difficult to put food on the table as an artist or a musician. As a musician, there's gigs and tours all the t

For some things, books are just better. I can mark the book, dog ear the pages, and the physical interaction that a book provides just seems (for me) to aid in retention. They also serve one purpose and I'm not as likely to get distrac

Not everyone has the luxury of avoiding burnout. Sometimes life itself is one huge burnout.

I've taken the long path. I'm in my 30's and I'm finally figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. My advice is to try lots of things, keep an open mind, and try to enjoy life. It's a silly sounding cliche but

Thanks for the encouragement. Money isn't the end-goal, I'm genuinely interested in the work, but it's at the back of my mind - I know there are a lot of opportunities out there. My problem is that I'm er, multi-talented

I've repeatedly experienced this frustration when trying to buy tickets to see big bands. It's impossible to buy a ticket for a major band these days, I just stick to small bands at local venues now.
