So the crux of this article is that kids shouldn't go to college because they feel like they are meant to but they should go because it makes sense for their personal goals and I agree. I have long held the belief that America needs mo

Completely disagree. Tiktok, Instagram, and Snap are fundamentally different platforms.

What would make a replacement better in your eyes? Anything that reaches critical mass in the public will have the same sort of censoring and filtering.

People seem to think that if Twitter dies, Mastodon will rise up or that we will return to forums or something. If Twitter dies a bunch of replacements will rise up until one of them is ordained as the winner and everyone moves to that new

Fully in favor of this. I recently had to cancel a subscription that had no "cancel subscription" button and instead forced you to contact customer service so they could try to sell you on discounts and etc. No, just let me cancel

Here is an article that references several studies but a search including 'loneliness and health' will bring up dozens of studies. https://www.brainandlife.org/articles/how-loneliness-affects...

Funny that you ask this. I recall reading about this a while ago although I can't find what I was reading. Apparently this is called "ego suicide." Killing your original self and letting the personality you created takeover y

You are taking an extreme "trust everything or trust nothing" position that I didn't make. I'm saying China has in the past spread misinformation about covid even denying that it even existed when in the first place. Peo

I'm not taking a side on whether or not deaths could've been averted but I would be very skeptical of data coming out of China.

2 big differences SARS didn't explode all over the globe and if you got SARS your fate was decided very quickly. Covid can be very mild or even asymptomatic making it easy to miss.

People saying "let kids be kids." Kids don't make a big deal out of something until their parents make a big deal out of something. America has such a weird relationship with sex education or sex in general.

I work in Agtech and this is not exactly true. At least not true in terms of big farms. They always work at capacity, in fact one of the reasons Covid hit agriculture supply chains so hard is that they had no extra capacity.

Didn't have gun range muffs but I did something similar for a few years before buying my ANC headphones. I had a broken pair of over-ear headphones and under them I wore a pair of IEMs. Did the job pretty well.

Anecdata but I recently got headphones with noise cancelling and my quality of life shot through the roof. According to my smartwatch, my heart rate is lower and stress levels are down. Unfortunately, I have to take my headphones off to go

The problem is the lack of discipline the author has in the first place will just lead them to turning off airplane mode "every once in a while" until they just leave it off and are back to start.

I find it weird that you find this weird. Most people I know and know of optimize like this. They are in it for the cash and trying to make as much as possible and then get out as soon as possible. Doesn't matter what the impact is, do

Is it hard to imagine that a single sentence in the installer about sex offends you so much that you refuse to use the software? Yeah that's kinda hard for me to imagine.

If this is a very common question, Mastodon could probably use some sort of FAQ on their site if they are hoping to reach the unwashed masses like myself.
